[REQ] Arena Location and Quests

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 5:31 pm

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could make a new location and a series of quests for some sort of Arena. I was a huge fan of the Arena in Oblivion, the Hole in Fallout 3, and the Thorn in New Vegas, but I really wasn't completely satisfied with the Thorn.

I was hoping someone could make a huge arena where you could do a large series of fights and after each fight get some caps. Also, I'd love if the fights were all unique and different.

Rather than a constant swarm of Raiders and Super Mutants, maybe start with Radroaches, then eventually Feral Ghouls, then work your way up to Super Mutants and Deathclaws, ending with a large boss battle of some sort.

Maybe at the end you could get some sort of Gladiator perk or something along those lines for all your hard work.

I just want a fun way to earn caps, kill enemies, and pass the time. The Thorn doesn't really do it for me as much as the Arena did in Oblivion and I was wondering if anyone could recreate a similar experience.

I'd be incredibly grateful. I'm sure there would also be others who enjoy the idea, too. Sorry if this has already been suggested or made already, I'm new here. Any effort on this would be very appreciated.

Well it's been almost a day and not a single person has given any input. I'd really like to see this idea come to life.

Its alot of scripting and quest making your asking for. I am not even going to mention creating a new cell and placing items and nav meshing it. Kind of a large request.

Also, in my experience most folks tend to be very picky when it comes to perks being added to their character. Personally, I feel it tends just make the game easier, which is the last thing I want. Unless of course its a really unique perk that doesnt impact game play. But those perks tend to require even more scripting and quest making.

You might be better off asking for something small. Tweaking the thorn to suit your needs perhaps. Not sure how that arena is set up, I have not visited it. If you can request the type of enemy you face, adding in more options wouldn't be to bad. It'd essentially be adding in another text option and cut and pasting existing logic(Tweaked with your monster preferences).

I was thinking about doing a fight club of sorts, where the combatants (All people, that is, humans, ghouls and maybe a Super Mutant but that's as far as I'd go) would use boxing gloves, boxing tape etc. to only to KO damage. Then have it work basically like any other arena, with progressingly tougher and stronger opponents. New Vegas has a lot of variety in melee moves compared to FO3, especially unarmed, so that could make for interesting fights.

Basically it'd be a basemant fight club in a bar or something, I know I have a tutorial on it lying around somewhere, it's just a matter of sitting down and trying to do it.

@ Urge
All my characters are gun nuts but I'd make an unarmed character to just play such a mod.

@ OP
I remember doing this on FO3 Mothership Zeta. There's an arena where you can trigger fights between raiders, critters and robots. What I used to do is spawn many of them, then just TCL to jump down there and fight all of them with a shotgun. I'd love such an area, doesn't need to have a story or admission price or anything, just a good'ol fightyard!

That'd be cool. If I remember correctly, there was boxing in FO 1 (in Junktown I think) and FO 2.

I always wanted to have a Thunderdome from the Mad Max movie, but I can only supply models and textures,
the whole GECK stuff is out of my league, wanted to create a dome structure and then have special idle animations for the npc's standing on it

and then have fights with all sorts of opponents, also wanted a Blaster kind of raider/mutant

so if anyone likes the idea, go for it and ill throw in a few models and textures!

Rarely does anything comes from people requesting even remotely large mods, if it's not something that can be thrown together quickly nobody wants to make your "amazing" mod. The best thing for you to do is to learn how to mod and make it yourself, because thats how mods are made; people make stuff they think would be cool if no one else has made it or they are unsatisfied with whats there for whatever reason.

Its like that guy that was asking people to remake FO1/2... seriously dude?

Yeah, basically. Asking doesn't hurt, I've actually been inspired to take on rather large projects before simply because someone posted a REQz thread and I liked the idea but hadn't tohught of it untill then. Usually though, it doesn't work.

I can only speak for myself, even if I know many modders are just like me. I mod for myself, I mod what I would like to see and what I want to mod, that's it. I release what I make because there's a chance someone else might like it, and so I might as well share it to make those people happy. I almost never take requests, unless it's something that'll take me about 5 minutes or is just very easy to do, such as making Raul's Vaquero outfit playable, or taking the separate scarf mesh used in the Waster's Scarf mod and adding it as an item.

That's pretty much the jist of it for most modders, based on what I have seen in a variety of different game's modding communities.

That having been said, I love your "fight club" type mod idea. Add me to the list of folks who would put together an unarmed based character just to make the best of something like that...

Sorry guys. I guess I didn't realize the scope of what I was asking for. I didn't think that making a new location and adding increasing waves of enemies would take a tremendous amount of effort. But I suppose that's why I'm not a modder. I've tried to get into the whole modding thing, but it's just not for me.
