Arena PvP

I, like most i play with online and outside of MMOs love arena! Please give us a ranked arena. 2v2. 3v3, 4v4, 5v5. Any combo would work really. The only game recently coming out with arena announced is Wildstar and my guildies are considering trying it just for that. Doesnt have to be about getting gear, just the fact its arena and you are ranked is enough to pull in massive amounts of competitive PvPers. Please make it happen!

Not going to happen at launch. Maybe when they release the IC because there was an arena in there. But, it's not going to be in at launch and for some forseeable future.

I know some dont like it but dont understand why some players are against it. You dont have to participate. They are going to have a ranking for Cyrodil so if arena was in way after launch, there would be a ranking for it as well.

im against it becuase it eats up develpment dollars that could be used on other parts of the game. there are already mmo's out that can give you your arena fix.

its the primary pvp that all the other themepark mmos launch with. its not like its rare or something. Call them battle grounds, warzones or what ever its staged pvp matches for E-sports.

I would also like to see this is eso but it really, really needs to be included in such a manner that is does not interfere with RvRvR. They need to make the reward specific to only arenas like the leader board and maybe straight up ingame gold. And if it was built exactly like an arena with spectators and a game system that allowed for preliminary fights leading up to title fights, like wresting, boxing and mma in real life, it would have a big draw. This could be viewed as fighting tournaments and fit easily into the lore.

Very good suggestion. While most games do have warzones, battlegrounds and such. Theyre fun for me personally, but the competitive nature of ranked PvP in small groups is what i would like to see. Mindlessly queueing for a warzone/battleground does get old. Staging your guilds best against others like minded brings streaming(ppl do watch pvp streams frequently) and its something to do when Cyrodil is not being attacked

At the very least they need to have a dueling type system in an arena setting, that fits in with TES lore. I won't know how I feel about ranked arenas, teams, rewards etc until I've experience Cyrodiil for myself - I may be content with just that, and I'm a hardcoe PvP player.

As long as they avoid the WoW arena system and do it like the Arena in Oblivion, I'll be fine with it. The last thing we need is ESO having anything to do with Esports.

Pretty much this: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1455067-an-idea-gladiators-guild-speculative-poll/page__p__22524235__hl__arena__fromsearch__1#entry22524235

If they can pull off the PVP in Cyrodiil that Darkage of Camelot did then you will have very good competetive group fights. I am assuming you didnt get to experience this. It was called roaming 8man. your group roamed around looking for other groups and to this day i have not seen a game bring the competetive fights that it had. Yes there was zergs, and solos and other groups interfering at times but most of the time you knew where to roam. once you saw death spam in chat or got word of who's group or what guild group was out there it eigther made you scared or the arenaline of tracking them down for the kill. the unknown of the massive PVP area gave it a twist that a small Arena could not. tracking and seeing dead players and kill spam just made it so much better. Also the capaigns are like servers, so you will be seeing the same enemys in the campaign, so you will start to know who is who. the PVP reward system let you keep improving your character for years so there was always incentive to keep going.

It is very hard to describe roaming 8man and just DAOC PVP in general to people who never got to expirience it. the seiges / defenses and the stealth games were also amazing. Cyrodiil looks to have the exact same setup that DAOC frontiers did. Some of the head DEVs are coming from DAOC so it think they can pull it off. If they do, you will be in for a treat and might not care for arena fights at all anymore

Also Cyrodiil wont just be about seiges or being attacked. there will be everything there, people will be doing PVE, there will be towns offering quests, there will be caves, ruins, and crypts to go in and fight enemies inside trying to go for the treasures. The map setup will have homelands to each side with bottlenecks seperating the territory. these will be hotspots, there will always be people waiting and fighting at these locations. Basically there will always be something happening and to do. But the unknown will always offer a twist that arenas never will.

This, I'd satisfy that each AvA campaign would have their own ladder once a month every year. And the participants fight 1v1's with the idea of sudden death elimination. The last one standing / highest win rate (since losing drops you from the tournament) is crowned the Arena champion. Give the man a fancy title and some cosmetic customization [censored] and be done with it.
