Arena shooter FPS vs just FPS

So I was reading this today.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/12/12/cliff-bleszinski-discusses-his-idea-for-a-new-shooter?abthid=52aa138ff84dff8716000037

Cliff Bleszinski is developing a arena shooter FPS video game exclusive to PC.

There is one thing that just amazes me. I was reading the IGN comments and some of them sound sarcastic but some sound real.

People think that the market is flooded with these types of FPS video games which is not true it is flooded with regular FPS video games like Call of Duty or Battlefield. My question is. Do people really not know the difference between a arena shooter fast paced FPS vs a military shooter FPS, etc?

Arena shooter video games are a niche right now.

I prefer the arena style FPS myself and this might be interesting. If he remembers what made UT so popular. (Easy to use mod tools to make your own maps and skins, LAN and good internet match support, Developers releasing their own map packs for free) Though I just wish he would keep his mouth shut more often. He says a lot of crap that just rubs people the wrong way.

Unreal Tournament was fun, but I was kind of disappointed when I read about that on Kotaku. Old style FPS? Ooh, cool! ....arena combat shooter? Ooh, poo. Here I was hoping for some decent single player stuff. Like they used to make before all this stupid multiplayer/pvp junk.
