Argonians svck in Skyrim.

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 1:53 am

Every non-argonian race gets a +10 skill bonus to something combat related. Meanwhile argonians get a +10 to lockpicking, which is the one skill that you do not need to focus on in skyrim. With enough lock picks and some skill on the player's part you can open any lock in Skyrim. Argonians no longer have
bonuses to Illusion and Alchemy. Using Alteration and Restoration in a stealth build is not very smart since stealth characters don't plan on having long drawn out fights. I love skyrim, but I wish bethesda would patch argonians so they get a +10 to Illusion or Alchemy, or even Enchanting. That would make a better mage/theif race than what the argonians currently have.

Then don't play them. I'm having fun with mine. They're the only race I could picture breathing fire and being "dragonborn". The initial +10 racial bonus is actually completely meaningless, and in many ways harmful. It's simply 10 skill points that don't contribute to your character level. It's not like it's a +10 to the cap.

Pick a race for looks or special powers. The skills will even out by themselves after a level or 2.

to complain about the starting bonuses is pretty weak, considering the meager effect they have on gameplay. I could complain about my breton and the +10 to conjuration that I will never use, but... meh

It's called roleplaying. Try it, it's fun. And sort of the point of a Role Playing Game.

I like the Argonians. They have tails, and I try to befriend the ones I come across.

I realize that skill bonuses are meaningless by level 20. But it really makes the early game boring when I have to start with such weak starting stats. Waiting all these level 15 skills to get up to level 40 where you can start adding decent perks takes forever. Oh and roosterdad what do you like about argonians? I'm not looking for a fight from you roosterdad. Just a point of view different than my own.

At least you aren't a Dark Elf enthusiast. "Ability to blend the blade, bow and destruction magic" is the lore that pretty much sums up the race and now we get no bonuses to archery or one handed, jus destruction (albeit it is a hugeeee boost)

I have a argonian with big bugged-out eyes with the name Skooma-eater, which is a reference to a TeS book "tales of the skooma eater" which is a refence to a book named "tales of the hashish eater"

The skills balance themselves out into what you want later. The starting skills are irrelevant, choose the race you want for looks and roleplay value.

"Forever"? Seriously? If anything, you level waaay too fast at the beginning. Then again, i played with OOO on oblivion with the level slowing mod and i still thought I leveled too fast...

I still can't believe my main character in Skyrim is level 50 already. Time to start over...sigh...

why does it matter what point bonuses they get? All races can get to level 81 max anyway and all get the same amount of perks. How is this a good argument?
