Arkane Studios: You can have my soul if you make one more ga

You can have my soul if you make one more game that is a open world RPG.

If there is supernatural powers or magic with fire and ice or the setting is from old fantasy days, I do not care.
As long as you guys put the same passion into a open world RPG as you did with Dishonored, I will love it!

Everything in Dishonored work so well, it already feels like an open world RPG almost.

But I don't want you guys to turn this Dishonored franchise into a open world RPG.

Make a new franchise that is a RPG with open world and the same quality Dishonored has!

Questions for the community about what they would want to see in a open world RPG made by Arkane Studios!?
  • What features would you want? (Example: Housing, marriage, boats and etc)
  • What kind of world would you want? Maybe medieval with sci-fi elements or just medieval or the present, future setting?
  • Please share any other cool ideas you can come up with, if you want.

Example of an idea:
Imagine the same type of artwork\graphics that you find in Dishonored, not completely the same but close enough.
But the setting would be the future on an island like New York, doesn't mean it's New York but you get the idea.
The island that has both a big city, smaller towns and a country side but there has been an event, so..
All the ways on the island and off the island has been cut off and there is just a wild place to be, wild animals to hunt
and in the shadows are things you don't want to meet in the night. But outside of this big city, on the corners of it,
people live and do ordinary things in their unordinary lives and you will just see a very green place, beautiful place.

Maybe that was a very bad idea but I'm sure some of you can come up with something much cooler and more detailed.

No. I don't want any open world games by arkane. Arkane are good for making coherent worlds filled with details and meaning. This would not work in an open world game.

You sure do know it all, don't you. As you quickly decides for yourself that Arkane Studios can't do something, they can only do one thing.
But what you think, is what you think and that's okey but I don't agree with you at all.

I don't really agree with this. If you look at the games Arkane make (Dark Messiah & Dishonored), and the games they are heavily inspired by (System Shock, Thief & original Deus Ex), you see what kind of games they want to make. And it's not open-world RPGs, which is something another studio under the Zenimax umbrella already make.

These FPS/RPG hybrids AKA Immersive Sims, like Deus Ex and System Shock are already rare enough at it is. To loose one of the few good developers left at making these games, would be a devestating blow for the already rare genre.

I don't really understand the logic about Arkane being awesome at making open-world RPGs either. Sure, they might be, but you can't really tell that based on their previous games. It's kinda like telling someone that they must be awesome at making zhenjiang dishes because their pancakes are so very yummy. Two very different things.

As for the setting, I hope their next game is a futuristic cyberpunk game, but the again, that is already "taken" by System Shock and Deus Ex, so maybe they do their own unique thing again. That is, if it's not a Dishonored sequel

That said, I wouldn't mind if the levels in their next game was a bit larger than the Dishonored levels, infact, I would welcome it.

I would love to see an FPS/shooter/RPG a la STALKER or Deus Ex from Arkane. And cyberpunk would fit I guess.
And I'm sure levels would be larger because I think new consoles will be out which means more memory.

I just want Dishonored 2. Bigger and better than the first while keeping to it's strengths.

Yep, what you just said.

Make Dishonored 2 a prequel even; you can find ways to explain Corvo having Dark Powers and then relinquishing/ losing them for the beginning of the original Dishonored. & Dunwall is a strong enough setting you wouldn't need a plague to add to the atmosphere.

I think Corvo's journey is done, let him rest.

We are already getting our Dishonored "2" as they are letting us play a different person with different unique supernatural powers on other parts of the island, that's better then waiting for a Dishonored 2.

Make dishonored longer, more open and add more cutscenes, maybe new skills weapons whatever, but it doesmt need much change, maybe a sticky cover/stealth system like deus ex human revolution.

Ask Bethesda to but your stealth chokes/kills in skyrim lol thatd be awesome.

Yeah, man. Ill explain. When you finally take out the spymaster, its underwhelming. If you go to kill a target/nonlethally take them out, its like BAM done. Id love to see him freak out as you slam him into a wall, blade to his neck, as he begs forgiveness. Or with the mission with 2 individuals. Id love to watch slackjaws men do what he says they'll do involving tounges and hard labor.

add more cutscenes
:wallbash:

On the OP, you're asking Arkane to change the entire underpinning basis of their game design. No way. Tweaks are fine, I think everyone can agree on that, but change the entire design focus to something the devs aren't crazy about and you're asking for a bad game.

I hope to see more of the world where Dishonored takes place at some point (not counting the DLC.... more like, actual installment).
Especially other continents and cities (coughTyviacough) :)

I think Corvo's story is all wrapped up and although I loved him as a protagonist, I'd rather see someone else and not more stuff
featuring him.

Um..wow. I was just putting my wants out there, obviously im not asking them to do it. Why does every forum user feel this strange urge to counter point everything they dont like? Sad.

I feel your pain. It's not a very nice environment to share your opinions and ideas.
But you know, not everyone will be like that.
I think it's good that people come up with their own ideas no matter how bad\good I think they are.

From now on! This is the imagination topic! You shall avoid counter pointing peoples imaginations as there isn't any reality here!

i'd like to see this too. It would be cool if the game makes mentions of the characters subtly (if relevant), but I'd love to play a different character in the same franchise rather than Corvo 2.0 or the other characters that make it to the ending (primarily because in the endings we can see how their life goes. So a game following on seems pointless)
Something similar to Dishonored in the world of dishonored - but not a compeltely different open world like Skyrim with marriage or Fallout steampunk. That's too big and too generic for me. Kind of a whiplash too, to have the entire setting and styles of the Arkane producers to change to giant epic open worlds. I enjoy that Dishonored stands out from other games in it's semi-open world that doesn't have too much big stuff. It's all the little details in the main missions that make it so awesome, the art, the enclosed areas, all the exploration possibility and hidden niches. Bigger games tend not to have as many and they're always so far apart to take space in account. I love that Dishonored didn't fall into that trap

I'd certainly love more sneaking and climbing! Maybe the outsider could visit someone in one of the other cities at the same time Corvo is running around in Dunwall? If you can do a save importer and have the effects of your dunwall game show up in small details of the other city - that'd be great. I love the effects and changes the actions cause so if we can play another character in another city with dunwall corvo cameo's - I was thinking newspapers and rumours and overheard conversations. Subtle things. I'd love that.
I also want to see what the other cities on that map are like :o

Alternatively, I'd love a whaling ship dlc where you get to...do a mission or something on a whaling ship. i am enamoured with the idea of the whalers and epic whale oil and the ships being self contained factories. Stow away mission? :P Survivor stowing on a whaling ship and secretely using it to travel to another city? IDK, i'D LOVE thestudio to put as much time, effort, similar gaming style/system and thought into another game as they did with Dishonored. *excited at the thought*

PS. i would give my soul for anything similar to what I've described, although i expect anything they make is better than i can think

Considering that most games are just a long string of cutscenes with combat in between, seeing people say that Dishonored needs more cutscenes is painful.

I would love these guys taking over combat and quest design for next TES. But I am OK with an improved sequel for Dishonered. And in hope that Beth is in shame on how Arkane did an RPG with freeform C&C in it, like once Bethesda was doing themselves, in an untainted open world no less.

@p5yk0t1km1r4ge,
This game is an anti-thesis of cutscene/QTE galore games. What you ask however doesn't strike me as wanting more cutscenes but asking for more reactions, perhaps?
