My armor mod make the body dissappear...

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 3:07 am

Anyone knows what's up with that? I don't have so much information so far, but here's some comment left by the subscribers who reported the problem:

"

HI, Armor looks nice everything is working except the plate, it makes me invisible. But i can see gauntlets, helmet and boots. Any idea how to fix this? I really like this armor!. Thanks for your work

"

"

whenever I put on the ancient magnus chestplate my guys body except for his head turns invisible, and the ancient magnus helmet gives me a skullcap of no texture, he's just a regular nord

/

I don't have any body altering mods and the armour worked fine when I gave it to Lydia

"

"

everytime I put the armor on, the body plate makes my character completely invisible

"

Right now, I posted to ask someone to share his save files with me, I doubt somethings will come out of it, but at least I may see the problem for myself.

EDIT (2012/04/30) : The problem is still not solved. Any and all assistance is appreciated. I uploaded my files on the Nexus for anyone interested enough to give a look. Unavailable at the moment, to make sure the nexus' administrator do not erase it or something. I do not know what is the etiquette on that matter on Nexus and I don't wish to try my luck for now.

This is typical when you forgot to erase the material non used in the nif file ... delete the extra stuff for the textures ...

I am not sure which files you're talking about. Those files? :

Or the one on my computer maybe? Cause both files seems in order to me. I erased all DDSs or NIFs I didn't need, but frankly none seemed related to the body armor specifically.

Did you edit the Nif files?

Yes, to assign a texture.
Do you have a normal map for your new texture? List file names.

A normal map? I don't know what that is, but if it's either the directory or the file names, both are in order. There's even one texture I remember which I changed from the way textures are named, and this one gives me zero problem.

But, I think I found the problem. Somewhat. See, I downloaded my own mod (probably should've tried that earlier) and I could see for myself the problem. Now, I've replaced the BSA by my backup files, while keeping the ESP I downloaded, and now the armor looks fine. Save for the helmet, which won't appear, neither in the CK nor in game.

Any idea/suggestion to continue from here?

Ok check the bsdismemberment modifier skin partition numbers , may be it has the same numbers of a body so that it makes disappear the body ... the game recognizes it like if it was an armor bodysuit instead than a helmet ...

That's what I get: http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2012/17/1335721356-dismember.png

I'm not exactly sure of what it means. I don't think I've ever tinkered with those options at all. Is there something wrong there?

Looked there, didn't find anything different between the original and my version : http://www.noelshack.com/2012-17-1335735833-same.png

Didn't even find a "30". Unless I looked at the wrong place?

I didn't see any tip that could've helped.

Alternatively, I tried re-allocating textures to original nifs from bethesda's BSA, I tested it with my file un-packed, all worked fine.

THEN I uploaded to steam workshop, subscribed to my own mod to test it, and the boots and armor were invisible anew. Not just the armor, but all the body zone connected to the armor. The helmet looked fine, but admitelly I tried on a sleeping argonian and didn't go farther after failing the visibility test on the armor/boots.

Now, call me crazy and throw me stones but I think it's the process of uploading that is messing up the NIF/textures. Is that possible?

Very weird. See, the armor becomes invisible only when put on. When I put them on the floor, they're visible again.

On the floor (high resolution, it may take some time): http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/578954588146003106/242781DCDD13847F50C47FCBF2C083C11D66F077/

Weared (same): http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/578954588146019001/8D2BD1678945F79E23CE8A2F3CE68B6E9DFA6F4E/

Anyway to extrapolate why one NIF works and not the other?

Uploaded it to the nexus, uploaded just the files that I work from, not the ones subscribers download: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=16153

I assume you are familiar with the directory in "Data", but repeating just in case: ESP goes in Data, the "draugr" file goes in the "armor" folder of either "texture" or "meshes", depending from which folder you take them from inside the ZIP (they are clearly marked).

Thanks so much for the help so far, I know troubleshooting this kind of problem isn't easy.

Male and female armor, female gauntlets, male and female boots. Albeit I suspect finding a solution to one will fix the others.

-Ok I checked the helmet male _1 btw u dont need to do this for helmets , try to copy also the _n files and rename exactly lke yours place in thesame folder and set _n after the name , I suppose you just did a retexture ...

does the textures you did have an alpha channel couse some nif there require that property ....

I suppose u didnt touch at all the models so it could be conflicting texture paths ....

btw not sure if u added glow thee but incase u need to provide the proper files and enable the property in the nif , but I never done that ...

I don't think they have an alpha channel, and never heard it was a requirement.

And no, didn't touch the model.

I'll try adding the _n files (DDS, right?) first, then I'll check about adding an alpha channel. Is it hard to do on gimp?
