Does anyone know how to calculate the damage reduction percent based off armor rating?

Giving us an intangible number isn't helpful because I have no way of calculating its usefulness. For instance, Oakflesh boosts your armor rating by "40". "40" what exactly?!?! I have no indication of whether that is useful or not.


If someone knows, please tell me.

I sure as hell hope not. That would make expert level alteration spells like ebonyflesh borderline useless. That would be a huge mana drain for only 13% damage reduction! For god's sake, oakflesh would only reduce 6% of damage!

Strange. Does anyone else hate that we aren't given a straight up percentage anymore?

This would mean that having around 620 armor rating would make you invicible to melee damage I bet that's not that hard to check.

I always just assumed it was a health multiplier. So oakflesh gives you the equivalent of 40% more health, IE it takes you 40% longer to die.
