Armour Stands

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:06 pm

I was thinking about the houses that we can get in FO:NV and one thing I wanted in my house in FO3 was some where to show off my armour that I had collected... but when you drop it out of the inventory it's all folded up, having an armour stand we could have it on display for us to admire...

Hell yeah! That'd be sick. Would be cool if once on the stand, it repairs itself over a period of time.

I could go for the armor stand maybe have it as a buyable item and you can buy as many as you want. Could also throw in some of those lights from the subway system to shine on the armor to display it.

I just think the repair over time would be a flaw and give people the ability to wait so many days to get their armor repaired for free.

Yes, I'd love to see them in the game. Shouldn't be too hard to implement.

When my character retires, I want to be able to sit in my house and admire all my treasures on display. :D

It would be just like a Morrowind mod I saw my friend using.Basically just an inventory item you can drop and place yourself, then equip armor and clothing to it.Really simple...really cool.

Some mods are already offering "armor stands".
Basically scripted NPCs with or without AI on them which stay in place.
Control can be via dialogue or via messagebox.

In Oblivion one needs to premake these NPCs for safe handling.
In Fallout one can use placeatme to place and disable, markfordelete to remove them, preferrably after removing the player's items to the player.
It should not be so far from reality in New Vegas to see these.

Clothing merchants would definately look more like sellers of Clothes with them. :)

I think Fable 3 is doing something like that, where they have a room with weapons and armor on stand, so you can just move around and see what you've collected and pick what you like.

Would be nice... It was always a ton of work to balance all my collected vault suits so that the #s were viewable.

Oblivion and Fallout 3 had mods for that, so why not? Would be cool.

Or just a whole room dedicating to your favorite armor, like in Fort Constantine.

how about some of those maniquins that we saw in FO3 that we could place our armor/clothing on to display it. It would be like the IV stands in FO3 you came across you click "open maniquine" and place the armor in it and it would appear on it as wearing it.

Poseable Manaquins would be great. Imagine a room with 3 mannequin on each side, half enclave with plasma rifles, half brotherhood with laser rifles.

The mannequin mod in Oblivion made sense, but in Fallout looks out of place. I don't like the idea of mannequins.
The Knights of the Nine DLC has a true armor stand, which I modified to fit my taste ( the static armor meshes have the arms extended forming a T, I removed the arms or put them down depending on the armor). That type of stand would make much more sense in Fallout, rather than a mannequin: a stand is something you'd throw armor/clothes around, not something you have to dress up like a mannequin.

I feel that a dirty mannequin would feel more fallout'ish rather than an armor stand.
But whatever, I could go for either really.

Thats what I was thinking. Got to use what you have. Could make it where if you got high enough skills you could "craft" a more purpose built armor stand but if you didnt you could buy a mannequin or just loot one from out in the wastes.

You have to dress up a mannequin.
To put pants on a mannequin, you have to remove the base, put the pants on, replace the base.
To put a jacket/shirt on a mannequin, you have to straighten out the arms, put the clothing on, then re-pose the arms.

An armor stand that's basically a T , you just draqe things over.

You have to dress up a mannequin.

... I just got a great idea for a minigame, go to the "what do you want in New Vegas" thread.
Actually never mind that, it's spammy, gonna take it here instead.

I want a minigame for dressing up the mannequins. :D

Shouldn't be too hard to implement you could have mannequins and you could pickpocket armor onto them. Maybe they could rotate like somebody said.
excelent idea :foodndrink:

Armour stands sound kinda silly since unless you got a lot of room in your shack or whatever those things will take up space. Gun racks though are something I would really like to see, wall mounted for example.
