I've completed the pre-requisite "way of the voice" quest, quite a long time ago actually. In fact, I'm nearly halfway through the Main Quest at this point. Even so, Master Arngier never has, and doesn't seem to want to, have any dialogue option about finding new words of power.

As such, I can't get the repeating quest going where he tells me where to find them. One of my favorite things to do in this game is hunt down the words, and I like getting those quests from him.

I'm on PC, so I can console or mod this. Is there any way to kickstart this quest, get him to have the dialogue option?

I think you have to complete "The horn of Jurgen Windcaller" mission also.

I did that a long time ago. UESP was one of the first places I checked.

By all accounts, it should be working. Thus, it is fairly clear that his lack of this dialogue option is something of a bug or error/glitch. It's only happened to me this once, every other game I've played it works fine. I was wondering if there was a console command to get the quest started. Someone in CHS told me that there was, setstage freeformhighhrothgarA 10, and that works in a sense. It adds a marker to my map and journal, but it did not give Arngier the dialogue option.

Even after completing that quest, Argneir still doesn't have any dialogue options, and using that console command doesn't work twice.

At this point, I don't know what to do about it.

Do you have Skyrim last version 1.5.26.0.5 and USKP 1.0 ?

Do you tried going though all dialogue that Arngeir has available? Maybe some line is hidden (run with mouse wheel) or perhaps you don't trigger all the dialogue avaliable, some kind of preliminary question first.

Also, try to speak with him in different places (indoor / outside) at different times of day / night. Maybe the trigger depends of that

Do you have a "letter from a friend" in your inventory? Is another "source" of locations of Word Walls... Open if you have not done yet.

...Or ?find the source of power in something? in journal (under misc quests)? Maybe you have to finish that quest first to Arngeir give you the dialogue.

You can reset Arngeir AI with console command but I think this is a to much shot in the dark ... Open console command, click in Argneir, then write resetAI , then ?enter?

Or you can reset the quest to inicial stage with resetquest freeformhighhrothgarA and try to talk to Argnier again.
