Arrows aren't for long range?

Is it me or is there a certain distance that arrows travel before they dissapear. Im trying to stealth kill a bear thats by a house next to the darkwater river. I can easily see him and im not even that far. Im on top of a perfect little sniping postition thats right next to it. i did manage to hit it but only when it got a little much closer to me. I dont think it has anyting to do with gravity either because ive tried attempted aiming it above my target. So what the heck. are we doomed to use bows only at short range? pretty dumb if you ask me.

EDIT: If so what is the point of eagle eye. obviously not for accuracy because it doesnt matter if you hit a vital area or not.

I hate when I have the perfect shot lined up, and the arrow just seems to vanish. I know this because when I go down to loot the corpse, arrows I show, generally aren't in the area

Arrow flight distance seems to get worse with every patch. I think it has something to do with the draw distance being reduced every damned time.

IDK bro, but I really used to love playing an archer, but the shotty fire distance has deterred me in recent play throughs
