Arrows magically fly into the target.

Post » Thu Aug 16, 2012 1:50 pm

I haven't really been bothering with archery. In fact my current save of 150 hours, I haven't use archery even once.

Well, now with Dawnguard I love the crossbows. However, something irks me.

Whenever I have the crosshair above the enemy's head, like way above, just not out of reach. Or way left / right from the enemies center mass.

Whenever I then fire, the bolts magically find their way into the enemies head or center mass. What the frakk?!

How do I dissable it?

That happens to you? My arrows seem to magically miss the target if I so much as to be a bit off.

Are you drunk?

There's alot of things that don't work with Archery, such as arrows disappearing at stupidly short distances, sniping is impossible in Skyrim, anybody know of any mods that fix that?

Huh? Are you aware that by default bows shoot over the crosshairs (so if you aim at the head at close range you're guaranteed to miss)? This is to make it easier for newbies who don't know how to compensate for arrow drop.

Unless you mean the range limit is actually stupidly short, in which case I totally disagree. I can hit a guard at whiterun's gates from belethor's store, and for me that's far enough away.

Can I have an answer as to how to disable it? I ain't really interested in how you miss by being off a little. That was not my question.

I have never experienced that, and I don't think there is an auto-aim to disable. It could be that you have a low archery, so aiming off to the side actually hits the target. Could be that when you aim over an enemy, the arrow's arc ends up hitting them.

How far is "way right from center of mass"? Are you mad that aiming at the side, the arrow lands in the center of mass; or that aiming at one bandit, you hit another?

Skyrim has a bit of auto-aim, but it doesn't work with blatant misses like you're describing. To disable it you need a mod (there are a couple on the workshop; just search for 'auto aim').

The aiming above and still hitting issue sounds like you're just not aware of projectile drop.

If you're on PC you can fix it in the Config file.

If not. Lol.
