Assassin of Skyrim

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 7:06 am

On my ongoing first playthrough I was deadset on playing a stealth type character - and after the initial fumbling around with skills - I started getting the build nailed. Through my experience with this I've on occasion taken some footage which I've made a short movie from. Except for some hours in the start of my game where I played on Expert, I've played the rest of the game on Master. Both in boss and dragon fights.

I see alot of complaining about the game on these boards about the game, and yes there are bugs and whatnot. But to me they pale in comparrison with this amazing piece of art Bethesda has created. It really is a milestone in the RPG genre.

Enjoy my little tribute to Skyrim.

I recommend watching it in full screen with a pair of Sennheisers ;)

I dont know if the rule about gameplay videos still apply for this section of the forum, but mods feel free to move to Hints&Spoilers section (the movie does not contain any noteworthy spoilers).

Lots of footwork and arrows. The trick is to be stocked up on Fire/Ice resistance potions.

Soooo, what's your build? :)

Im still working on it, but so far these are the perks I've invested in:

Skills:
Sneak (82)
Stealth 3/5
Backstab -> Deadly Aim -> Assassin's Blade
Muffled Movement -> Light Foot -> Silent Roll

Light Armor (37) - I dont get hit very often, so thats probably why its still so low.
Agile Defender (2/5)

One-Handed (53)
Armsman (3/5)
Dual Flurry (2/2)
Fighting Stance
Savage Strike

Enchanting (40)
Enchanter (3/5)

Thats the gist of it. I accidently invested a few skills in the start where I didnt know what I was doing, lost points really.

Gear at the moment:

I made them... or I bought one of them and found the other. Then turned them into something awesome ;) (Smithing/Enchanting)

Havent got a decent pair of gauntlets at the moment. Somehow I managed to disenchant my last pair without I noticed it.

Can you use the sneak attack % bonus in enchanting, to enchant onto other gloves?

edit: also, what skills have you perked up?

Yeah Its a bit dark - I think the encoding in AE ruined it. It was fine before I processed it and the YT upload didnt help either...

Nice video. You put sneak for your light armour skill list. Have you found fighting face to face with daggers hard at all?

I try to avoid direct combat all-together. But you cant avoid it in every encounter (like with dragons). Its tough, especially on higher difficulty because i've sacrificed armor for stealth. But I try to jump around and avoid getting hit. And if direct combat is unavoidable I try to at least get one backstab off before I get into direct contact.

Imperial

Cool man. Yea I'm finally getting the game here today or tomorrow and I'm definitely wanting to go the assassin route. I thought I was going to have go Kajiit or Wood Elf and I'm not really envisioning either of those races for my assassin so its cool to see an imperial being used instead. Nice. I guess race really doesn't matter in the long run.

I wanted to go with a human-type character. And I thought that with a bit of work in the end it wouldnt matter what race you are.

Awesome video! Please keep this updated with your perks and items, I can't wait to try an assassin on a higher difficulty level now.

Though just wondering, how did you make those daggers (if you did) with no perks in blacksmithing?

I used a potion to get higher smithing skills for 30 seconds. So I upgraded them to superior. You dont need perks to upgrade, only to forge.
After that it was simply a matter of finding a couple of good soul stones and then I used another potion to upgrade Enchantment so I could get some better enchants on them.

Ngen, man I'm finallly getting the game tomorrow. I'm definitely going to go the assassin route. Do you have any recommendations on what or where I should go first? I kind of figured I would seek out the dark brotherhood first or something to that effect. What's your opinion on Alchemy? Do you feel its necessary at all? I've just read that it seems to fit an assassin quite well but noticed you're not using it. Just curious. Thanks for any input you can give me bud. Peace

I havent really dabbled much in alchemy, only what I could buy. I'm level 26 now and only one perk from maxing out Stealth, so I might start investing points in alchemy, however I am more interested in using them in Enchantment. To me it seems that its better paid off to be able to enhance gear than potions. But thats just my opinion.

Im not too keen on the potion system here in Skyrim, the effects seems to be very short-lived, there are however some very useful ones to enhance non-combat skills. Like smithing and enchantment.
