Are there specific grooves where the claws are supposed to go into?

According to what Todd said, it just perches on the wall. May need to find a sweet spot though. Look through Bethblog, may be an image on there.

Mine popped on fine - no obvious 'claws go here' grooves that I could find, but it went on fine.

A little advice from my experience assembling the CE statue with the base

- set the dragon on top and move it around until it's balanced
- check the tail to make sure it's not touching the base. Just a personal preference but I don't want the weight of the statue on the tail.
- don't worry about making the claws touch the base, and don't worry about matching the included picture exactly

Btw I think the statue looks awesome!
