Astrid is an idiot...

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 11:21 am

I just want to say, either Astrid is stupid and I don't pity her at all or there is just a really big loophole in the Dark Brotherhood questline. So we all know that she makes a deal with Commandor Maro selling you out and saving the Emperor's life. But my question is: Why would you make a deal with someone when you've killed their son? If they didn't know before it would be pretty obvious they would know now. I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting vengeance for that.

If you say spoilers in the title or tags, it really should go in the spoilers section.

Yeah uber spoiler dude! Luckily, I've done the DB questline. All I can say is in Astrid's defence, the DB is her baby. She's doing what she thinks she needs to, to protect it.

Commander Maro can't be sure you killed his son Gaius (unless you commited the murder in plain sight), but you are right, it would all be a bit too accidental. Astrid even admits herself that she was foolish, and wanted nothing more than to keep her little family together.

She's an idiot for abducting a 230 lbs muscle-bound Nord warrior with a Greatsword to a small cabin in the swamp where no one can hear her scream when she presents him with the choice of killing three innocent people and he proceeds to skewer her on that Greatsword.

Epic.Fail.

He did put spoilers in the title....but Its still a spoila.

I agree with the OP though, Astrid is an ass, and with her buffonery the entire sect paid for it.

She is more of an idiot for marrying that fool. Astrid is a perfect FILF and all of that was ruined by her marrying that loud mouthed dolt

I killed him once but that was not the answer

Nah. I pitied her at the end.
Now she has to deal with the torments that the Dread-Father has to provide.

In all honesty, only one was innocent. And you can make her regret napping you anyway...

Astrid assumed that he'd want revenge on the ACTUAL KILLER more than the organization.

And a hot one at that. She was being threatened by the prospect of being dethroned by the Night Mother's presence and the PC's ability as a listener. She got desperate and thought Maro would keep his end of the bargain as the PC was blamed for killing his son.

She really is. All that crap she talked about honor and family and never backstabbing one another or you'll regret it.....all crap. Just like Mercer Frey and the Thieves Guild, it's often the most virulent leaders who end up being the Benedict Arnold's. I barely liked the DB to begin with, mainly only did the storyline for the rewards. But after Astrid, I just abandoned that mess. I'll keep my 20 grand and let the last 2 DB's rot in Dawnstar.

I liked Astrid. It's Cicero that inflames the whole debate about the rights of the listener as the leader of the brotherhood. Only if she wasn't married.

Astrid didn't kill his son, you killed his son. She offers the life of his son's killer inexchange Maro lays off the DB.
Say your commander Maro. "I can give you what most desire, the life of your son's killer, all I ask in return is you leave the brotherhood to do its business." What Astrid likely didn't know was Maro had already learned the pass phrase to enter the sanctuary.(which he gives to the player if he takes the destroy the DB path).

Commander Maro can't be sure you killed his son Gaius (unless you commited the murder in plain sight), but you are right, it would all be a bit too accidental. Astrid even admits herself that she was foolish, and wanted nothing more than to keep her little family together.
Sure he can because Astrid told him you did it.

I found her and the DB quest line about as menacingly written and dark as an episode of My Little Pony. Such was my disdain for the two dullards left at the end I made them non essential and had a barbique over their remains.
