I noticed that the performance on Battlefield 3 BETA worsened in comparison with 11.8,even if AMD says that it includes special BF3 treatment on it.
I'm using a HD 4850.

Black ops blue screens.

Glad to see someone else experiences this.

Can't exactly blame bethesda for it though, it's ati's driver and it's rushed out as a quick fix.

The driver solved all my problems for Rage but I just booted up black ops and got bluescreened which was a bit worrying.

My specs:

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition
2 x Flashed ATI HD 6970 2GB Crossfired [2 6950s with Flashed Bios]
8GB DDR3 RAM
Win 7 Pro 64 bit

Never had an issue with my flashed gpus.

Search for atioglxx.dll in your computer and once you find it just copy and paste it inside rage folder.
As long as you have this dll in rage folder, you can install whichever driver you like.

AMD Catalyst 11.10 v2 makes Quake Live un-launchable (crashed when you try to join a game)

there are other thread from QL official forum and steam about the driver problems:

that's why I don't install beta or preview whatever. it causes other games problems. you don't only play Rage. you have many games in your library. I am just stick with AMD 11.9. by the way, I have no problem on texture issues. according to AMD, 11.10 will be arrived in the end of October. maybe it will be the same week when battlefield 3 will be out.

:)

I've fixed this by downloading older version of atioglxx.dll and put it in my firefox folder.

other games might be solvable by the same method

I own an Ati 4650 GPU and i noticed that ATI/AMD had some serious driver quality problems over the last few years.
Sometimes their drivers can't even be installed!?! The only driver that works on my XP 64 is Catalyst 9.8. Anything else later is unstable or fails installation.
Look at AMDs driver webspace and all the driver fixes you can download for almost anything....
So you might want to send your complaints about this to ATI/AMD as i'm sure this has less to do with Rage than with Ati's sloppy quality control in the software department.

Most Nvidia users don't seem to have that many (if any) problems.

Ati builds great chips but their driver department needs a kick into the area where the sun don't shine. ;-)

If you have problems with other games, please try Catalyst 11.9. Are there problems with these games? Catalyst 11.10 Preview (v2) is based on Catalyst 11.9.

If you still experience any problems, please clean your system and do a fresh driver installation. (Uninstall driver, clean system, install driver)

Nonsense. nVidia users have the same problems, if not more and didn't get any special driver for RAGE.

The standard advice for Ati drivers: remove your old drivers, clean system, install new driver and so on.
Nothing of this will help when the driver code is bad. I had this a thousand times.
The catalyst driver crew seriously lacks professionality. They are even to unprofessional to make a working install/uninstall routine as you obviously need additional tools to get rid of the remnants of old drivers.
And look at the forums of most pc games. It's definitely more Ati users complaining than Nvidia users.

I own an Ati card and i'm no Nvidia supporter but i'm fed up with Ati's crappy support.
