Still downloading, I'll message back whether I get a performance increase or not. Doubt it.

Also available from AMD website if you know the direct link. Probably how Guru3d got it.

I'm just getting into PC gaming and I'm really not understanding the whole "driver" thing.

You say that the ATI driver is released. I clicked on your link and seen that it takes me to an AMD website...are they the same things?

Reason I ask is, I was on STEAM yesterday and seen that they have an AMD driver update. I d/loaded it and installed it and tried to load up STEAM again and got an "error" screen on their "store, news and community" pages. Then I tried to load up Skyrim and the game wouldn't start.

I figured that AMD and ATI were 2 different things and that the AMD driver I had d/loaded and installed didn't work on an ATI system. So then I did a "system restore" and things went back to normal...so having said all that I'm kinda worried about d/loading that link and now wondering what do I do?

Driver made no difference. Still laggy as crap in towns, hopefully it benefitted people with Crossfire though.

Also giving it a try. To be honest, lagging in towns is CPU related, not GPU, so I don't expect miracles.

ATI/AMD is one thing INTEL/Nvidia another
Both have their own drivers for videocards
you better use the autodetect if you are not sure, but you have to know a few things like what series your videocard is and what OS you use, and what bit that is, 32 or 64.

Is this something Bethesda can change? If so, how likely? I've literally barely played the game due to lag. It's game destroying for me. Some places it's 60fps, some places it's 20.

Its normal because usually drivers are shared first in guru3d, no links at Amd site.

wut??? big buisness like amd let third party website launch their software before they do themselves... im not buying this horse... the "11.11" driver shown on that guru3 site is two weeks old... that's not 11.11 that's trolling.

Okay, so STEAM must detect what video driver you have and offer the lastest updates for that driver.

By the looks of things I have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

My video card seems to be an ATI Radeon 5670 HD (with a Dxdiag version of 32 bit unicode...is that the 32 or 64 bit you're talking about?)

I can confirm that the install package does include new application profiles. Whether or not Skyrim is among those profiles, I don't know.

11-11 CAP 1 is on their ftp... http://www2.ati.com/drivers/hotfix/catalyst_application_profiles/amd_catalyst_11.11_cap1.exe

but I cannot confirm if it has Skyrim profiles.
