Auto-censor some words

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 7:39 pm

Please TESO devs include some auto censor system for the game chat so as to spare our neurons. Whenever these words are being typed they should be filtered and not appear in the public dialogue window.

My nominations:
- rouge
- pls
- mom
- kajit, khajit, khajjit, khajitt,....etc
- noob

Do you have other words that would hurt your experience?

I wish we could get some words auto-censored on this forum, like "dumbed down", "hand holding", "casuals", "wow-clone", the list could go on, really...

Three of those are not one words but a progression of words or a hyphenated word.

I agree though, definitely some should be censored right? Because people cannot deal with them. Like words like complainers, entitled, streamlined, nostalgia....

Honestly censorship will hurt sales as being restricted is a major no no for most gamers. Most of the players of any likely MMO will hate that feeling of restriction.

The only place that really stupid words like l33t and such should be censored is a RP server.

Filtering out words like rouge and mom would limit RP. In WoW my husband and I roleplay extended family relationships, including playing the mothers of each other's main characters. I'd hate for our characters not to be able to address their mothers as "Mom" just because some might use the word in unfortunate fashion. Similarly, rouge is a perfectly good word. I'd hate for my character to be auto-corrected and made to apply rogue to her cheeks.

In general I dislike the notion of a censor serving as spelling police. Again not all the characters I roleplay use standard English. Spelling can be use to convey dialect and pronunciation.

I hate banning words. Can we censor the word "censorship"?

...Ow, okay, thinking about the implications of doing that made my head hurt, never mind. <_<

Let's not censor, let's just ban them when they say it.

More importantly I want RP servers to have the option to report non-RP names, I don't want to see lolnubzkiller The Emperor just because some COD really devoted fan bested the PvP, and we now have to all bow to his ridiculous name, likewise I hope I never have to suffer being around any intentionally misspelled or ascii character equivalents of Legolas running around Valenwood.

Whats wrong with loot? Good old 18th century word, used both as a verb and noun.
As for barrens
barrens. level or slightly rolling land, usually with a sandy soil and few trees, and relatively infertile.
13th century origin

The most important one to be censored would have to be Justin Bieber.
Don't censor miss spellings of khajiit or other words as it does get annoying to get right, that's pathetic if you think it should be censored, especially if people with something such as dyslexia play the game, it can be very unfair to them.

Nah, I'm okay with those words. They accurately describe a large chunk of posters on this forum.

Mine were mostly jokes, hehe. I didn't really take this thread seriously, but I would like to see some of the common acronyms banned.

Hey, don't go too fast! Rouge means red in my mother tongue, I don't want to be prevented to call anything red...

Yes, please. Never mind in the game, but here on the forums, specifically the Skyrim forum.

Can't sensor chat, but naming should have restrictions.
As long as they allow numbers. Im tired of being forced to use a name i dont like because the one i want is taken and cant add my usual "78" to the end.
