There's no reason ESO could/should not be released for PS3, 360, or their next gen variants. Plug a keyboard and mouse into your console and it's no different than PC. Plus, it's been successfully done before with FFXI.

A console MMO would be convenient due to the price/stats ratio on consoles, which is their only advantage. I am amazingly glad the game is coming to Mac as well as PC as it gives them a near instant in on the Macintosh gaming market as EVE is the only other(major) Mac MMO. Voice commands would be a cool addition (at least for followers), though I don't know how that would work with a chat system.

Although I don't see why they couldn't release it for PS3/360 or their upcoming next-gen versions. Plug a keyboard and mouse into your console and it's no different. I know I wouldn't mind playing ESO on my 60 inch HDTV

You can hook up a PC to your 60" TV.

And I shall! But was more illustrating a point for console gamers.

I am soo happy it is coming out for mac (my prefered OS) and it should give them an advantage (however slight) over say, TOR in that regard, EVE is not the only major MMO with a Mac Client. Blizzard is famous for making it's games playable on both Mac and PC and WoW is no exception.

I am still amazed that someone in the last thread claimed that the PC they bought new in 2010 struggles to play Morrowind lol. Seems like someone would have to go out of their way to find a new pc for sell in 2010 that svcked that bad.

I remember having to buy a new video card just so I could run that game. I went and bought a 32mb beast lol.

*pro tip* Don't buy a PC from Walmart or the dollar store. Actually, don't buy a desktop PC from any where. The only time it is appropriate to buy a PC is when you need a laptop or netbook/ultrabook. If you buy a pre built desktop PC (doesn't matter the brand) you will over pay.

Well newer computers sometimes can''t play older games. Look at Fallout 3. Due to the way Windows 7 was developed, most people can't run it in a satisfactory way.

It's an MMO.

If you can run your internet browser, trust me, you can run TES Online.

Huh, I thought MS and Sony didn't allow keyboards as game controllers on their systems. It's nice to hear they're starting to relax this, if their next systems had a keyboard option as standard I'd happily pick one of them up.

Thanks to the thread merge, my comment makes no sense. Great. :\

For anybody reading this, I was commenting on a thread about why there isn't a console version- basically, MMOs are extremely easy to run, so there's no need for a console version.

It will probably be just for PC.

Though there were a couple of MMO's that tired to do both.

The problem with that though. Was the controls were serious issues. The game was also probably not successful. From a financial point of view.

So new MMO's may be afraid to try console. Not many console players seem interested in paying for a monthly sub. Parents may also not be interested in allowing junior to potentially spend billions for perks on a F2P console MMO either.

Though TES has been PC and xbox. So maybe it will try both.

At this point, all we can do is guess

I think the modern internet user has no idea how to research a topic within a forum or outside a forum before posting.

How many of these have we seen? A quick Google search with the topic Skyrim MMO provided the correct answer within a few topic down the page.

A search of this forum for the word Xbox shows PC and Mac only within a few topics down the results with the following amalgamation of these threads
http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1371329-available-platforms-pc-and-mac-merged-similar-topics/page__hl__xbox

I do research for a living so I might be expecting a little too much from other internet users ..... but its SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EASY. It is certainly much easier to research that it is to ask other forum users.

Nevertheless here are the answers
Its not Skyrim, its the entire Elder Scrolls Realm
Its PC & Mac only (but who knows what the future holds re consoles if it proves popular)

It's true, a lot of people don't bother doing a search before posting a question, and it can congest forums and get annoying. However that's no reason to berate someone. If you want to help then please civilly tell a member about the search system and how to use it, but perhaps alongside a welcome to the community. But in the grand tradition of, "if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all," if you're not going to help the person out it's best to just remain silent. Either no one will respond to the thread and they'll hopefully go looking on their own, or someone will step in to assist.

So I did a forum search and came up with this thread... lol

I got an intense hyper thought process goin a couple of nights ago like a light turned on and domino's started falling one after another setting off a mouse trap cause and effect contraption that cullminated with an explosion of confetti...

Look at the question that hangs over The ESO like a huge thundering cloud....

Will it make it? Will it survive in floating in a nasty sea of vanerial disseased infested prosttutes swarming with flies that is the PC MMO market? ( man it's crowded , hot and it SMELLS in there )

Lift your hand to your brow and look off into the distance.... You cans see the crystal blue waters of the console market glistening in the sun.... pretty, demure blond, blue-eyed, wearing a sundress just waiting patiently with a smile..... for some young handsome MMO to come over and introduce himself.

Soooooooo......

Anyways my thought was that the next generation of xbox may be a pretty good candidate for Elderscrolls Online to establish itself in that blah, blah, blah console ocean....

!. Look at the relationship established between Microsoft and Bethesda..... hell'uva track record..... I believe Morrowind sold somthing like 1.4 million copies on it's release on the original xbox.... It and Halo were the 2 best selling games on microsofts platform that year... dont underestimate the amount of money Beth has made in its friendsip with Microsoft ( I gaurentee Zenimax dosent ) , theyve been extreamely sucsessfull buisness partners.

2. Opening up the way for micro-transactions.... Ok, Ok I saw the thread about P2P > F2P.... and I dont want to argue..... evrey game journalist I know of and website belives the inverse.... but what ever.....

My point is that XBL isnt set up in a way to allow for traditional F2P style micro-transactions... at least not in it's current itteration, but Nintendo has come out and said that their next generation 0n line service for the Wii U will be set up with Micro-transactions in mind....

So I fully expect to Microsoft to follow suit.

Some of the posters in the previous thread were right.... there ARE alot of console gamers that dont find the subscription fee idea very apealing... Mainstream... they own Madden, COD, Bf3 and.... Skyrim..... FREE TO PLAY.... and there are a heck of alot of Hard-core RPG gamers chompin at the bit to play their favorite rpg with friends.

3.So you take ripe, juicy untapped market + new hardware and the ability to support micro-transactions + a highly lucrative busniess relationship + a FRP model and you get...... = But-loads of Money..... millions and millions and millions........ and some more millions from micro-transactions...... and then some more millions later on from expansions.

Anyway so then my natural high faded and I tried to hold on to those thoughts so I could post them here days later.....

Not many console people are willing to pay a monthly service fee? The XBox 360 would like to have a word with you ;) And if parents can't control their children's gaming habits, that's their own problem.

Iin fact, FFXI was recently revealed to be Square Enix's most profitable title of all time according to an IGN article. FFXI being an MMO that was on both the PS2, 360 and PC platforms. There's a TON of revenue to be had from having multi platforms, and almost no good reason not to do so.

They may not allow but that does not mean you cannot use them. I don't have a PC but I play the xbox with my g13 logitech and a gaming mouse using XIM3.

I'm happy TESO will be out on MAC too. I don't have a pc and I use mac for work and I need to get a new 27inch iMac so it will do the job.
