Bad things

Post » Tue Feb 12, 2013 11:52 am

Hello guys!
I really think ESO will be an awesome MMO.. Lots of new features and everything.
But I disagree with some things.
First: I think we should be able to explore enemy faction's territories...
Second: Stat scalling on cyrodiil is extremely bad... Weak and strong players exist at any MMO, and if the weak wants to do a good job on a war, they should train harder.
Third: I think max level 50 is a quite low, and leveling is one of the major features on a MMORPG.
Fourth: Many will disagree here, but I think ESO should be an open world pvp game... Open world pvp is extremely exciting and thrilling, and will help to immerse the player in the world.
Thanks for reading, and sorry if I wrote something wrong.. English isn't my primary language.. >.<

Okay you're starting to sound like one of those that just wants to gank lowbies.

Second: Stat scalling on cyrodiil is extremely bad... Weak and strong players exist at any MMO, and if the weak wants to do a good job on a war, they should train harder.

LotRo, and swtor started at level 50. That's where expansions come in, and there's bound to be new levels added with it... 50/60 is the standard for MMOs.. I don't know why you want it to be such a grind. Let them come out with good content and quests rather than doing quick sloppy grindfests for end levels.

Fourth: Many will disagree here, but I think ESO should be an open world pvp game... Open world pvp is extremely exciting and thrilling, and will help to immerse the player in the world.
These poor low levels.. they will never meet the knife you so willing want to shove into their backs.

Do you know how large Cyrodiil is? It's massive.. you won't even think about open world pvp once you get in there and see for yourself. There's still going to be a huge thrill of unexpectedly finding new enemies just because the size of the territory will prevent you from meeting someone every two seconds, even with 2000 people in it. If you want to see other territories that aren't in your faction, you can always make characters in other factions. I'm an altoholic and will be for sure making at least 1 in each.

Welcome to the forums!

Here's my answers:

1. This topic has been debated for countless hours and days and weeks, in at least 10 other locked threads. We don't need another...

2. A lot of people would hate it if a level 10 couldn't stand a chance against anyone else in Cyrodill. The devs have already confirmed that anyone can have an enjoyable experience in Cyrodill (Meaning they will scale up chars)

3. Level 50 is low, yes. But I do believe this number will be increased through many expansions (It's inevitable that a game with this much attention/fans will lead to it having multiple expansions if successful)

4. Open World PvP is in Cyrodill. You have the whole of Cyrodill to fight in; which is basically the whole of TES:Oblivion.

There's already a plethora of gankfest open world FFA full loot pvp games out there to take your pick from. That type of pvp is niche gaming and ZOS is targetting a much wider audience for ESO.

I prefer to keep ESO the way it is.

There is really know way to know how low, or high, Level 50 is, because we don't know how long it takes to gain a level. I'm always surprised by people who seem to think a level is some kind of fixed quantity across games :P

I will cry if I see the words "faction" and "lock" next to each other again.

Second: Stat scalling on cyrodiil is extremely bad... Weak and strong players exist at any MMO, and if the weak wants to do a good job on a war, they should train harder.
While players will be scaled to 50, they won't have very good gear and will probably be destroyed anyway.

Third: I think max level 50 is a quite low, and leveling is one of the major features on a MMORPG.
I read somewhere that it should take the average player 120 hours to reach max level, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Fourth: Many will disagree here, but I think ESO should be an open world pvp game... Open world pvp is extremely exciting and thrilling, and will help to immerse the player in the world.

I don't see how it'll immerse the player in the world, it'll just get them frustrated and make them quit.

But yes, welcome to the forum! I can't seem to find my fishy stick...

The main reason why making the entire game world open PvP is a bad idea is this. If you have everyone running all over the place you never have a contested area that concentrates the player base.
And as someone else pointed out earlier the area of Cryrodill is HUGE. Trust me when they announce and introduce the "Darkness falls" type dungeon all you ganker types will be thrilled.

And as for the level cap being to low, i really have never understood this complaint. All it takes to reach the level cap is time, skill has nothing to do with it. How is grinding 100's of levels a worthwhile feature ?
I for one would find progressive features on a character far more interesting than a number scale as has been the case since the earliest MMO's. Why not have my character gain a beard, scars, tattoos, etc ?

All I can say in response to the OP is, it's too late in development for any of this to happen. The closest thing to an MMO version of TES mechanics would be Darkfall or Mortal Online, ESO just isn't going to be one of those games.

Edit: Your written English and spelling is actually better than most average English speakers I have encountered IRL. Well done :)
