Baking?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 1:50 pm

I've read about baking somewhere on this forum where the word once got mentioned as something you could do in this new DLC. I also saw on YouTube one guy who had made a baking oven.
Now please explain to this poor PC gamer who can't test this out foe himself yet what baking in this game really does.
You can make your own sweetroll or something? Are there any recipes just aanmoedegings helpful as the Vegetarian Soup which restores stamina and health by one point every second?

I'm not into armories (mannequins are just creepy), and my Markarth house has my book collection, so I went for the kitchen, and am quite glad I did. It makes the house feel much cozier. Anyway, good recipes: chicken dumplings are pretty cool- 120 seconds of health regen is nice. Garlic bread is awesome- it somehow cures all diseases. Lavender dumplings don't sound delicious to me, but a bit of magic resistance for 60 seconds is a nice benefit. Probably my favorite upgrade for that wing, and now my character owns the only proper oven in all of Skyrim.

The oven only comes with the kitchen wing, so you fancy baking some tasty new treats you will have to try it out, there are new recipes for the cook pot as well. I only ever use them for decoration, so no idea what benefits they all have.

But that kitchen... doesn't it take away the place of both the armory or the library? Touch decisions. Looks like all the best rooms can only go in the East wing.
It was east, right?

Yes the kitchen is the east wing and the other choices are either the armory (which is fantastic if you want to put your armor and weapons on display) or the library. I was not really impressed with the library, if they had put some of those glass fronted bookshelves in there I would have been happy, since it would have held the full collection of books and journals, and there is a chest there for the paper collection of notes and things, a few bookshelves to display books on and it would have been perfect. My collection of books stayed back at Hjerim, since it is a lot bigger than 308 books. I only brought some spares to put on the shelves. If I had put the library wing on a house other than Lakeview I probably would have used it anyway and stuck everything in the chest and still put the doubles on the shelves. My character Braggen gets attacked by a dragon just about everytime he visits Lakeview, which makes it less appealing as a home.

You can just build three houses if you want more than the three wings you can have on any one house.
