Banned from Eastmarch

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:19 pm

So I'm playing a Nord warrior and I'm RP'n him siding with the stormcloaks. Not really hating the beast races but not really trusting them either.

So I plan to kill imperials as I see them. The two travelers going to the wedding are accompanied by a bodyguard dresed in imperial gear and I strike him down. I leave the two travelers alone but they start running towards windhelm and I think nothing of it other than the 40 bounty added to Eastmarch.

I'm actually on my way to
Spoiler
meeting up with stormcloaks to get the jagged crown
and I get there and the commander (essential guy) charges me and knowing hes essential and the other soliers may be coming too I run. After I get away I check my stats on bounty and I see -

40 bounty in Whitrun
40 bounty in Eastmarch
1080 total bounty

Also my first murder (the bodyguard) is in there too. I haven't returned to Windhelm but I've heard 1000 bounty is kill on sight. Am I banned from going back into Windhelm with 100 bounty? If I can't continue on the Civil War questline, that's fine. I would just treat it as a cool twist to my intial plans and continue onto other stuff. If that is the case , I was thinking how cool it was that I made a mistake and it afffects me badly.

Heh heh, reminds me of when I was playing Morrowind, and got a kill on sight bounty in one of the fishing villages. Had to find a way to get to the Thieves Guild in Balmora without any guards seeing me, to pay off the bounty. It was tougher than it sounds...

You get a 1000 for killing a guard.

Whenever I find two imperial soldiers escorting a prisoner, I always slip a backup weapon to the prisoner and cut his bonds and then I kill the imperials. Why? I don't know, seems like the thing to do...

So I'm not banned from Eastmarch? Weirdly I was kinda hoping I was. Adds much more to the story.

No not really, you just need to yield to the first guard you see in Whindhelm. I have had a 1000 bounty in 3 of the holds and all I did was give up to the guards as soon as I`m within their sight.

Okay, I've done that before but was kinda of suprised with the stormcloaks charging me in the first place.

The murder added 1000 to my total bounty but it says I only have 40 in Eastmarch where the murder  happened. That's where I'm confused.

 odd??? I guess you got lucky in Eastmarch, did the 1000 bounty end up counting towards another hold?

Okay lemme give you my crime history.

I shout at a guy in Whiterun because he said something I didn't like. 40 bounty added to Whiterun and chased out of the city.

I head to Ivarstead and try to leave Ivarstead and a dragon meets me on a path away from the city. Having no bow or magic on this guy, I fight him my best but also lead him to Ivarstead for a little help. We all fight him and in the fighting I shout and by accident hit someone. I get a bounty in the Rift and after I absorb the soul I PAY my bounty to the guard.

I go tot Riften jail, leave Riften and head north to Windhelm.

Get to Windhelm, do the whole Stomcloaks thing, and then on the way to that ruin, kill the bodyguard. 40 bounty added to Eastmarch. I let the two travelers go (witnesses) and continue to meet with the Stormcloaks. When I get there, they are pissed and trying to kill me. I get away and then checked my crime stats.

What I have left is
40 in Whiterun
40 in Eastmarch
1160 Total Lifetime Bounty
1040 Largest Bounty

Seems to me, the stormcloaks should be running up to pat you on the back for killing an imperial, not trying to turn you in for the bounty.......
