Bard College - Pantea's Flute bug?

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 10:56 pm

It seems that I found Pantea's Flute prior to being tasked by the Bards to find it. The mission sequence seems to be bugged to where I cannot give the flute to Pantea to complete the task. I did a quick google search and there seems to be others with this issue.
Has anyone found a good work around, or was this patched in the new 1.2 everyone is posting about?

Thanks.

Im bummed. I cannot make further progress with the Bards until there is either a work around or a patch. I am assuming if i could just drop it and pick it back up it would kick start the dialog tree. It seems like that is the fix for pc players that can use the console commands.

Who knows. Its still my first play through.
I know i found that damned flute in one of the first caves I cleared, now being 50 hours deep I am not really willing to restart and find out. The lute and the drums I was able to complete without issue, so hopefully you wont experience this bug.

I have about four borked quests. Pantea's flute is one of them.

Skooma Source is also bugged for me and I don't think I can become thane if Riften with it messed up.

Ah I have the same issue.

I completed Pantea's Flute, but it is still in my inventory, and can't store it anywhere.

I completed Finns Lute, but it is still in my inventory, and can't store it anywhere.

But I also got the Grand Staff of Charming (from Hobs Cave - same as the flute) but the winterhold quest still says I have to find it.

Apparently, for some reason, the instruments all stay in your inventory after talking to the quest givers, BUT, despite what the game says, the instruments are 0 weight. I've put all my gear save quest items into a box and my carry weight went to 0 despite having several unusual gems, and the instruments.

I'm actually okay with keeping them around. :P

How did you put them in a box?
When I try and put them in a chest It tells me that "quest items cannot be removed from inventory"

Do you have a box or bag in your inventory that gives you like a sub inventory?

I didn't put them in a box. I said I had the instruments still. :P

Go find a chest, and put everything -but- your quest items (including Pantea's flute, and other bard's college instruments) in it. Your cary weight should be 0. Despite weighing 2-4 lbs each, they actually weigh nothing.

Now, if only we could play the instruments. :P

I think that the golden rule is to not clear random caves unless you have a quest to do in them.

I cleared Hobs Cave for the Flute quest.
But then after realised that the Grand Staff of Charming that I picked out the chest there was also a quest item.
Which now I can't complete now.

Not isolated incidents either. There are so many glitched quests it's a joke.

Sorry to hear that you guys also have bugged quests. I know there are still a few of those types of bugged quests left over in Oblivion even after the GOY edition. So hopefully they are actually able to fix these.

These bugs on this forum seem to be pretty well documented at the wiki page, so at least we are not alone and they are semi well known.
Good luck Bethesda. Love the game, I cannot wait to complete it.

Note to self: avoid picking up any musical instruments in Skyrim until next patch...

I think that the golden rule is to not clear random caves unless you have a quest to do in them.

...and uh, entering any caves...

Not isolated incidents either. There are so many glitched quests it's a joke.

...or playing the game....at all.....

think we should just leave any items we discover that has a name attached to it or looks quest related.then go back for it later bit of a pain but might stop goosed quests

I'm in Hob's Cave - I just opened the chest with the flute - is it safe to just take the staff I need and leave the flute for later (when I get that quest? I don't have it yet). Or will the flute disappear from the chest after a certain time?
