Barrel chest.

Anybody have this? I do and I hate it, it makes your body look so out of proportion. I'm kinda muscular, but have such a large torso makes my arms look tiny and my chest sticks out at least two inches from my stomach. The only advantage it really has is increased lung capacity.

Yep, and huge shoulders. I can never find anything that fits me well. I have to get everything tailored. :sadvaultboy:

What is the opposite of a barrel chest? That's what I have.

Yup, it helps make me look intimidating so I don't mind.

I wish. Then I wouldn't be in so much pain after 12 straight hours of internet every day.

No, altough I'm in physical good shape I still look like a weakling because I don't do much strength workout. I don't know much about barrel chests, but do you get them or are you just born "out of proportion"? :P

Not barrel chested but I do have huge shoulders and a tall build.
Now if I was muscular maybe I could see the barrel comin in.

I think I developed mine around 12-13 years old, when I started to bench my rib cage just expanded. I think once I start to grow a bit more and develop more muscle to even out my structure it should look good.

Some people are just weirdly proportioned. Mine appeared at around puberty.

No offense to anyone, since they really can't help it, but I think barrel chested chests are just...blah.

I feel bad for those who have them. :/ On the bright side you look a bit more muscular than others since your chest is raised, giving you better posture.

I thought that was the preferred shape for guys? Kind of like a muscular arrow pointing down. I know a lady who fancied this guy at work purely for his shoulders. It's the equivalent of boobs to her. I shouldn't worry if I were you.

This. I'm compact, people always seem shocked when I tell them how much I weigh.

Sure do. Hate collared shirts because the shoulders are always so tight. Other than that, I don't mind.

It sounds stupid but have you tried different shops? I reckon the same thing applies to men - some fit better for bigger hips, smaller waists, shorter legs, wider shoulders etc. My mate has quite a wide chest yet is quite short so he always shops at different places for shirts and jeans. Maybe you just haven't found the right place to shop at yet?

Hmm, maybe not so much Barrel chested(I'm not particularly muscular(anymore anyways), but I do have a fairly large chest, a fairly common occurence in my family really.

No, I am tall and seemingly skinny. Just straight really, though I have one rib that sticks out a little. If I ever happen to say my waist size people are surprised because they thought I was skinnier.

I know I know wikipedia but... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrel_chest

I have a deep chest and broad shoulders but idk if it is classified as a barrel chest. I always though of barrel chests as a good thing for some reason. I used to be skinnier too but now my gf has packed about 20 extra lbs on me that I don't want lol.

At least your chest isn't sunken to the point where you can't run for more than a minute at the most.

Opposite of a barrel chest would be known as a sunken chest. And this is what I have. My pecs are really hard to develop for some reason. I've been benching heavy for a long time and still no significant change.

xylophone, fluted, stick, twig, etc.?

...I'm not a guy, but I do have wide shoulders for a woman of under 5 feet of height, and it annoys me at a times. Definitely hard to buy shirts that fit the shoulders/right length that don't make me look like I'm wearing a potato sack.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I look like a beer keg on stilts and have been that way since highschool, but hey that's who I am. It does cause awkward looking proportions though... Especially difficult when shopping for the right clothing sizes.

I went into the army at 5ft 9in with a 44in chest weighing 170. I never wore my class A properly (In my view anyways) as I was short/large for the tailors (they could never seem to get the arm length right or fit the neck), and looked like a cheap mafia thug. :(

Years later I tried on a 48 short suit for a formal event and left depressed. Called My friend and he said it was cool to go semi-formal, because that's who I am.

It's a tough battle with genetics. You'll eventually find peace with yourself being confident and fit.
