Run into a bug I've never had before and, to compound the insult with actual injury, the usually reliable console has totally failed to aid me due to the game not accepting the info from the UESP on quest stages.

Basics: Battle for Whiterun (Imperial Side)

Stage: Talk to Legate Rikke

Problem: Rikke gets to the second line of her big speech, and then stops. Talking to her gives generic dialogue, both general and battle related. Waiting does nothing. She doesn't finish her speech, and setting the 'Talk to Rikke' stage of the quest (2000) to complete does not cause the next ones to appear.

The console refuses to recognise stages 2030 (Defend the barricade) and 2999 (Stormcloaks remaining) as valid. I've tried reloading saves from before I left the Whiterun gates. I really want to actually DO the battle, a bit simple though it may be, without skipping the whole thing via console. Right now, I have NO idea how else to fix the [********] thing. Really, really annoying, given how long it had been since I'd run into a bug, and now it has to hit in the middle of the quest....Ugh.

Any possible help here?
