Why can't the DRAGONBORN, of all people, become Grandmaster? It's not like it's the Blades ENTIRE PURPOSE for coming to Tamriel or anything. Oh but it's fine to become the leader of every other faction within a few in-game months. That's ok. >.>

I mean come on. You can become Arch-Mage without casting a single spell, become Listener without sneaking, become Harbinger without lifting a single blade (except one part, IIRC). But we can't become the leader of the faction who's entire existence revolves around the Dragonborn.
