Been waiting for this game for ages

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:14 pm

I am a DAoC veteran and I am really excited about this game. I've been waiting for a new 3 faction RvR game that has unique classes and races in each faction. Stop comparing this game to WoW. I bet you haven't even started playing MMO before WoW came out. This game has lots of similarities with DAoC than WoW.

Zenimax Media (parent of Bathesda) is trying to capture different market with this game. They are a business entity after all. Companies like them have to grow and make money for its investors. You don't have to play it if you don't like it. It's simple. They aren't forcing you to buy this game. Stop complaining and stick to your single player game. The reason this isn't first person is because of the latency issue. Having hundreds of people in your view will end up in crash. When you are in a first person mode, the game has to process a very detailed graphic than 3rd person mode. This will result in a crash. If you played DAoC RvR you will know what I am talking about. DAoC servers are known for crashing when there is a massive relic raid with so many people in one area.

What I like the most about this game are:
- Monthly subscription (this will keep all the 15yr olds and gold spammers out.). I am 100% sure this game will have monthly subscription. Hopefully around $15. Which is $0.50 per day. I will gladly pay $15 for unlimited hours of entertainment. This is still cheaper than paying for movies.
- 3 faction open world PvP / RvR
- Unique classes and races in each faction
- Each faction will feel like playing 3 different games
- Realm/faction pride will be strong.
- Community will be better without 15yr olds.
- This is developed by the original DAoC producer.

Some people will like this game and some won't. They can't try to please everyone. There is a huge market for MMO and that's what they are after. I will advise you to at least try the beta before making your conclusion.

I actually like all the guild wars 2 features the game uses.

I find it astonishing people can even claim TES ONline is a WoW clone when it has nothing in common with WoW besides that it has a hotbar...... which even GW2 has.

It may be because the Game Informer article, our only source of information so far, specifically said that TESO was based on World of Warcraft's mechanics.

Yup, that's probably it.

Yup, that's probably it.

Except if you actually READ THE ARTICLE, all the features they list are GW2 in nature. In fact the article says only the BASICS, i.e. that it has a hotbar, are like WoW.

It is like people saw the word WoW then forgot everything the article said in relation to it.

If having a hotbar makes you a WoW clones then GW2 is a WoW clone also.

Hot bars were in games even before WoW came out.. people who are comparing it to WoW never played anything before that.

By the time this game comes out most people would have finished a vast majority of GW2's content.... I will probably play both.

Guild Wars 2 will be releasing big expansions on a regular basis. One of them might even come out around the time of this games release.

Probably.

Depends on the fee.

A game could poop solid gold bricks and I wouldnt play it if it had a 15 dollar a month fee.

How does having a monthly subscription keep "15yr olds and gold spammers" out? Because WoW has one and has plenty of "15yr olds and gold spammers".

It will have the 3 factions, which are also very similar to DAoC factions:
Daggerfall Covenant: Breton/Orc/Redguard = Albion: Briton/Half-Ogre/Saracen
Aldmeri Dominion: Altmer/Bosmer/Khajit = Hybernia Elves/Celts/Sylvans. No real cat equivalent though in DAoC but still the Elf feel for sure.
Ebonheart Pact: Nord/Dunmer/Argonian = Midgard Norse/Frostalf/Troll

Didn't obviously list all the races of DAoC just the ones closest resembly the races in ESO's factions.

Runkor, though I don't doubt that the game will have a monthly fee, I sincerely hope that it does have the free-to-play option that has become ever so popular among online games (WoW, Rift, etc.), even if it only gives you access to a very small portion of the games features. Sadly, many MMORPG's lately have been huge let downs and I hope TESO doesn't follow in their footsteps.

P.S. : Fifteen year olds aren't too annoying, it's the seven year olds you need to look out for. Have you ever played CoD or Battlefield online? The real jerks are the second graders who think themselves so much better than the people who don't care whether they win or lose and just want to have fun and don't start a tantrum when they lose and scream at you in their annoying, high-pitched voices and you end up going to their houses and...oh...I've said too much already.

I'm used to a $15 a month fee, it's near second nature to me to put 15 aside a month now, despite the fact that I currently have no subscriptions to any game.

ha ha

Wishful thinking. You must not play WoW. World of Warcraft has a $15/month fee, and it STILL has almost nothing but 15 year old kids and gold spammers/farmers.

You actually see less gold spammers in free-to-play MMOs.
