PC Beeping

Post » Sat Aug 25, 2012 4:47 am

So my PC beeps randomly only when playing skyrim. I wasn't sure if it's my hardware. I ran FurMark, prime95, MaxxMEM, and nothing. Also I run HWMonitor during skyrim an my temps are fine.

Does anyone else experience this beeping?

My PC doesn't beep when I run other games like world of tanks, mechwarrior online, dead island, diablo 3, deus ex human rev, amalur.

I turned off all my mods and it still beeps. Even when I'm just in the first screen where you choose resume, load game, new game, ect it will randomly beep.

I'm running:
windows 7 64
phenom 2 x4 3gig
8gigs ram
HD6950 1 gig
850watt psu

Your Motherboard is beeping? If so refer to the manual it came with to see what that means. If its a prebuilt like Dell etc it should be in the handbook they gave you somewhere.

Mine was doing this.. Check your processor fan. I caught it in time to prevent major damage.

It's not a POST beep though. Mobo beep codes as far as I know are POST-related.

Also, HWMonitor shows that my fans are all working.

Thanks for the replies though.

Then what kind of beeping is it? Just saying that it's beeping says absolutely zilch. We can't tell you a thing without some sort of description other than the fact that it is beeping.

It's a non-POST mobo single-tone-beep for 1-2 sec that randomly occurs only when I'm running skyrim. Occurs with or without k/b input. Don't know how else to describe it.

I would contact the Mobo manufacturer and discontinue playing until you can get it diagnosed. You could also make sure non of your keys on the keyboard are stuck in the down position but I doubt that is the problem.

Thanks again for the replies. I think it's a memory leak with Skyrim causing the beeping. Definitely not a hardware issue, else a stress-test on my components would have revealed a problem.

Ahhhh when I have the time I'm going to do a fresh install and see what happens, one of my mods could have corrupted the game files maybe.

An audio recording would greatly help, preferably in Ogg or a similar open format.

Sounds like the heat alert thingy in the BIOS, look for "CPU Warning Temperature" or alarm temperature. It might be set to something dumb like 50c, change it to something more apporiate like 80c.
