So, what does it mean to be an advlt?

Mainly ask this since i'm writing a story with a serious tone of a character wanting to know what it means to be an advlt. There's always that time that comes where you have to make an "advlt" decision on what to do. Sadly, for some of us, that time comes a little too early in our lives.
