Ben Affleck is Batman?

Post » Fri Aug 23, 2013 7:18 pm

So I just saw http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/movies/2013/08/22/ben-affleck-to-play-batman/2690301/?csp=fbfanpage article pull up in my Facebook feed. The article states Ben Affleck is slated to be the new Batman in the 2015 film and personally I seriously hope to GOD it is not true or this changes. This is purely IMO, but Affleck svcks as an Actor in recent years and the only film I liked him in was Dogma, and he was mediocre at best in that.

Anyway, I'll stop before this turns into a long winded rant. How do you feel about Ben Affleck being the new Batman?

As much as I enjoy Patrick Batman, the voice of batman has got to die a horrible, horrible death.

At this point, it could be Richard Simmons and still be an improvement.

True, I won't argue that, but choosing Ben Affleck is like choosing Gilbert Gottfried to play Wonder Woman, a disaster waiting to happen.

I enjoy Batman movies as much as the next person, and while I believe this is a terrible decision (but am still morbidly curious of how it'll turn out), I can't help but wonder why we need new Batman and Spiderman film trilogies out every five seconds.

EDIT: Oh durr, I just saw that it's to include Superman. Man I'm behind.

Not that I care about the never ending parade of shallow super hero movies, but this [censored] as Batman? Jesus Christ...

Remember that scene in Southpark with Steven Speilberg and George Lucas 'graping' Indiana Jones? Same principle.

I wouldn't go that far. That fourth Indy movie ruined a perfect trilogy, just like he did with Star Wars. This is just another [blank]-Man movie for the sole purpose of selling merchandise.

It's not a great selection although it could've been much worse.

I don't think that Affleck is that bad an actor, it's just that he (along with his buddy, Damon) gets involved with a lot of movies he really doesn't belong in.

As for whether or not he'd make a good Bruce Wayne (you cast an actor for Bruce, not Batman)...I dunno. Probably not, but you never know. Nobody trusted Michael Keaton when he was cast in the 1989 film. I'm too indifferent to really care. Frankly, I think Batman has outstayed his welcome in the cinema.

People said this about the Heath Ledger casting as The Joker.

Personally, I think the move will pan out. They are looking for a grizzled, experience Batman and I think he fits that. Until you see the movie you can't really know how well he'll do, so why not give him the benefit of the doubt?

Argo anyone? It was a good movie, and he preformed well.
