-Requires a high science skill?
-You die and restart from your last save?
-Why do you keep making dashes in the beginning of your posts?
- Listen. You are right now doing what is in RP lingo called "metagaming". You are drawing on all sorts of both fictional and non fictional, ingame and outofgame mechanincs to plead your case.
- A "high science skill" would not cut it. As you are told by the followers when you try to bug house the stuff is so advanced it is well beyond anything seen anywhere. It was prolly allready hyperadvanced before the great war. You would have to have the specific manual to the thing, spend months if not years of studying it and even then there is no telling what "extra" software and firewalls and potential vira that house might have boobeytrapped the thing with.
"You die and restart from your last save"
-Oh.. this is rich. Metagaming in its fullest Naivite. You see... this is a Roleplaying game. That means we roleplay. Even if you do not, the game does it for you. Your inagame toon doesnt die and "respawn" at the bindpoint or at the local wow inn. He is dead. Deceased. Gone. He can't "reload".
That you can is great. Thats what makes games possible. You wouldn't like FO3 if the game self destructed the first time you died would you? gamesas wouldn't make alot of money implementing that feature. If your toon decided to use his own life and give the machine a shot of "trial and error" by using himself as a guinea pig, he would have only one shot. The amount of "reloads" you would need with all of the crap that House could have installed would be tantamount to spending days of real-life time, loading and reloading to get it right. How much "fun" would that be? How much programming time would Beth have to use to properly implement the level of tech and traps that house could have implemented? Far more cost effective and fun to just bar us from using the thing. It's so advanced we have no real use for it anyway. So the programmers and story writers makes the choise a DM would. "You can't use it. Too advanced. [censored] off and go do something else".
- Because I can, because its an old habit and because I find it pleasing to the eye.
