Best City to Buy and Sell Items?

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 5:59 am

Anyone have any suggestions of what city to go to that has a good trade base with multiple shops and sales people? Best Ive been to is Whiterun and the main person i trade with is the blacksmith, looking for a more diverse city to trade in.

I'd have to say Solitude. They got alittle bit of every kind of shop.

My best market place is also at Whiterun, the blacksmith woman and Drunken Huntsman.

I've resisted the urge to look this up. I've been selling everything to that lady that sells all sorts of items in Winterhold and to the various instructors/merchants within the College of Winterhold, as well as to random merchants when passing through towns.

Yea that's where i usually sell all my stuff but it just seems there has to be someone with a more diverse selection somewhere I mean don't get me wrong she has a pretty diverse inventory but always seems to come up short in the amount of gold she carries.

Whiterun works out well.
Theres the warmaiden, with two people, one inside, one out that will buy weapons and armor.
Right next door theres the general shop with the guy that buys odds and ends.
Across the street from that is the alchemist to sell potions and, if you arent using them ingredients.
And up the road in the castle theres farengar to sell scrolls and such to.

I'm sure any city will have decent options, but having 3 vendors litterally next door to my house is handy.

Now that i think of it I have never walked into the drunken huntsman, is that a specialty shop or just sort of a general store?

Huntsman, for hunters and stuff. Some armor (light/medium) I think and weapons (bows etc).

Where is the war maiden im assuming that that is a different person than the women that is a blacksmith (the one on the immediate right when you enter whiterun)

Whiterun is also my destination for selling goods. I don't buy much, but there are plenty of shop owners who will buy my stuff.

Haven't been in the Drunken Huntsman yet! Figured it'd just be a place to pay for a room and buy food. I will check it out if there are bow and arrow vendors there.

I use Whiterun because my house is there and it is in the middle of everything, but I'd wager Solitude would have more merchants.

The War Maiden is the blacksmith shop, the woman outside is the blacksmith, you can buy and sell to her and in the shop.

So you never talk to vendors for extra info? :ermm: They do sell something.

If your problem is the amount of gold that people carry, you might consider joining the Thieves Guild or getting your Speech skill up. I believe one of the Speech perks gives all merchants 1000 more gold or something along those lines.

The best place is a city where the merchants like you the most. Merchants in whiterun (completed every quest there) seem to give me significantly more for certain items then merchants in windhelm (only did 1 or 2 quests there).

Whiterun is my Balmora.

The smith by the door has TWO smiths to sell/buy from. Just up the rode is the General Store and an Alchemist. The fact that I can own a very cheap home right beside the smiths is a win also.

Yea im aware of the two smiths at the shop but dont they run off the same amount of gold? i thought one time i sold alot of weapons to the one outside and then went inside to find out that the trader inside had the same amount of gold remaining as the one outside did.

I knew they sold stuff but I thought it was just food. They always have like only 100 coin so I figured why bother
