Best Companion/ Follower?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 12:56 pm

Shadowmere!

Helps me travel through the countryside so much faster, climb hills, has tons of health that regenerates quickly, and fights anything and everything that looks funny at me... even dragons and dragon priests!

As far as humans, I would say Mjoll the Lioness. She has the least annoying dialogue/monologue in the game, looks smokin' hot in Ancient Nord Armor complete with a Dragonscale helmet, and is an absolute boss with a Skyforge Steel Battleaxe. She wiped out an entire Forsworn camp nearly by herself! I love watching her fight other Forsworn chicks! :-)

Sven my personal Bard. He's only so-so, but he is composing my legend damnit!

Nice. :)

My first buddy was Jenassa the Dark Elf from Whiterun, and I felt like she was helpful to have and handy in a fight but that I wouldn't care if she died.

And then she died and I was so upset I had to reload my last save, about an hour back - I felt so guilty for her death. She was just so loyal and helpful.

And then I rescued Derkeethus, and I knew my Argonian had met his soul-mate. The adventures we've been on. My argonian's a heavy sword and shield type, so having an archer around is incredibly useful. Also I married him because hey, free food and cash.

Also also because gay lizard men are hilarious.

Forgot to mention, Aranea is best off without armor anyway, she uses the mage armor spells.

Also, Onmund is about the most polite of all the followers I have used.

Stenvar. While Lydia, Dog and Anneke died on the easiest adventures, Stenvar kicks everyone's ass. We have history. From Vampires to Dwarfs, Stenvar beats everything.

Word.

I've seen a lot of people complain about followers being to aggressive, but he almost always hangs back until I make the first move. I still get 90% kills but he kicks ass on defence when my archer is getting charged.

Eola. Just something about her dietary choices and Foresworn armor.

+1 for Eola. Something about that freaky chick.

I use the girl from the college, Brelyna I think. She's a conjurer and always throws a storm atronach out there. Accidentally killed her with chain lightning to the face, but she's solid.

Just started using Jordis, and she seems pretty capable. Benor has probably been the best one for me.

Ugh... she even says the same sentences as Lydia? :(

True. But it's not always what you say but how you say i!!.
Lydia is a whiner and i would paint her black and turn her in to the aikhim? If I could.
I will probably just make her a blade so I can kick her whiny azz out of my house.

Its crazy how many different ones there are. I love that Aranea calls me Guardian. I got the guide book real cheap when I bought the game. It lists the primary skills for each follower. This helps me during a tough fight because my follower is usually a pack mule hauling around all sorts of stuff. Unfortunately, they will use the best thing they have even if it isn't the best fit for their skill set. Example, Onmund will use a two hand weapon if it does more damage than his one hand. This is bad because if l had taken the two hander away from him he would have used the paralyze enchant one hand sword and off hand lightning spell. With the two hand he is kind of clutzy but with the one hand and destruction he is much more formidable.

I like Lydia, purely because she was the first follower I picked up. And we've gone through so much crap together, that I've gotten attached to her, despite the fact that she whines every time I give her an awesome piece of gear.

I killed Lydia, I killed Jenassa, I punched Sven so all I have left is the dark brotherhood initiates

Any followers I use are just mules, I leave them at the start of a dungeon and load them up with loot. They annoy me and they just get in the way. The Companions quest line was especially annoying as you couldn't instruct them to piss off..

Only really used Lydia and she got annoying real quick so left her at home and never took another one.

However I have one question, which follower are the best at sneaking?
I sneak a lot and it was really annoying that the enemy noticed Lydia all the time, so any advice?

Edit: Oops meant to quote Salt AU.

I started to feel this way until I found out that they have specific skill sets. Now when I outfit them properly they are pretty strong. Getting them to walk circumspectly in the vicinity of trap switches can be annoying, though. Solo has benefits too though. AoE spells are much more useful solo.

I think I am going to go get Farkas again. I thought killed him before. We were fighting giants and I couldn't find him after the fight. I figured he got punted while he was down. So I eventually got Aranea.... Now, whenever I go back to the companions, there he is eating lunch, like nothing happened. Wish he could tell me what happened!

Aela, because nothing says 'badass' like having a half-naked chick rain arrows on your enemies. Plus she stays out of my way (when I use her)

Same here, for the same reasons. I've married her too. She was very abrasive before we married, now she's all sweet and sugary in our house in Whiterun, which was a little disappointing. She can mix it when I take her out for a rumble though.

I usually use Marcurio, powerful spellsword, but this time I'm using Vorstag from Markarth. He's not bad, average I'd say. I'm waiting until I can get Argus the Bulwark in Markarth. I have to level up 5 times.

Marcurio is really good at sneaking. Mercenary spellsword in Riften Bee and Barb plus he's witty.

I found him to be a little rude. I think, based on your sneaking comment, though, I will probably use him on my next play lthrough. I am playing a mage now and am deliberately avoiding TG and BH quest lines. I will play a sneak assassin next time.
