Best. DLC. Ever.

Post » Wed Dec 05, 2012 6:34 am

I have only just arrived on Solstheim, had an interesting chat with a Redoran councillor and investigated the Redoran looking building which turns out to be a 'Temple of the Reclamations.'

There are so many new lore books in that Temple, dealing with issues that lore monkeys like me have mulled over and discussed on the lore forum for almost a decade now, Im so excited and tickled pink!

The history of Raven Rock, the Reclamations, what happened to people like http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Brara_Morvayn.. Ive even found ash yams and scathecrow.

I have only seen the docks and the inside of the Temple, but I already think that this is the best content of Skyrim since release. Im so anxious and anticipating the rest of the content, this is better than Dawnguard, its better than stumbling across Blackreach, this is Awesome!

What are youre awesome experiences with Dragonborn?

This is exactly what dlc should be. Not some skanky 3 hour gun fest a la ME3 Omega

I do not know about other DLC's for games as I dont purchase that many at all. In fact, most my games I get out of the bargain bin 2-3 years after release and the disc will have downloadable content included by then.
I recently got Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Fun game. Cant imagine people payed extra to get a rifle, some money and a few grenades.

So yeah.
This is what a DLC should be.
Bethesda. Delivering since Tribunal.

(Of course, I should note Horse Armour Pack for Oblivion, before someone else does, but in defense that was a one time thing that bombed and they havent done anything like it since.)

This DLC is drastically different than Dawnguard for sure, which is what the point was, I think. So far, I like this one, where I found DG a wee bit tedious at times.

Getting murdered by Werebears, slaughtering a bunch of little critters throwing little spears at me, and having these Ash creatures jump out at me out of the ground... you cannot relax your guard even for a minute here, it seems.

Then there's the Red Mountain in the background, spewing out ash. Man. I don't know why the Dunmer even stay. If I something like that spitting out gray junk at me constantly, I'd have the brains to move!

It's a fun DLC so far.

I'll take your word for it Merari, I can trust you in such matters. But I'm still pissed I won't get to see any of it until next year.

The best part for me so far are the side quests. Gone are the typical radiant fetch quests from the vanilla game, except one npc who will give you radiant quests. The side quests are unique and well implimented.

I think this is the best one to date. The armor, the lore and books, the atmosphere...and I love the dragonriding despite it not being free roam. I didn't expect it to, really. And bloodskal blade is soooooooooooo epic.

In it's defense..it was actually a test run for DLC. It was the first. It was cheap and it was actually useful. I mean it doubled the HPs of your ride.

People just slammed it for being so small. None the less it was still a good addition. This however is a GREAT one.

Indeed. Merari is one of those people that if he dislikes something, he'll tell you about it, so if he says it's good, you can bet it is, and I completely agree. Best DLC ever.

So, should I play a Dunmer for this DLC? Would I get the most out of it this way, lore-wise?

I had a fight with some during a random encounter, but was not able to do more than that.
