Best general melee combat enchantment setup?

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 9:42 am

I just unlocked double enchantments so I've been trying to figure out what combo would be the best for a warrior-type who uses one handers+shield, level 70. My current setup is:

-Daedric helmet:

Enchantment 1: Fortify Archery

Enchantment 2: Waterbreathing

-Daedric armor:

Enchantment 1: Fortify health

Enchantment 2: Fortify stamina

-Daedric gauntlets:

Enchantment 1: Fortify one-handed

Enchantment 2: Fortify block

-Daedric boots:

Enchantment 1: Fortify one-handed

Enchantment 2: Resist shock

-Daedric shield:

Enchantment 1: Resist frost

Enchantment 2: Resist fire

Amulet of Talos (Can you put an enchantment on this in addition to its shout cool-down?)

Gold diamond ring:

Enchantment 1: Fortify one-handed

Enchantment 2: Fortify stamina

Daedric sword:

Enchantment 1: Absorb health

Enchantment 2: Paralysis

Anything I could improve on/change? Keeping in mind that there are limits on what items can be enchanted with what enchantment.

Breton: 15+25+29+20(2 magic resist perk)=89
Helm: alteration, Fortify restoration
Armor: alteration, Fortify restoration + Regen
Gloves: One handed, Magicka
Boots: One handed, Stamina

Ring: Resist magic v2, Fortify restoration
Amulet: alteration, Fortify restoration

Shield: health, fortify block
weapon1: sword- absorb health, paralyze'

esentially, youll want to get 85% magic resistance, as much fortify one handed as you can and the rest is flavor, in this case i chose restoration for free grand healing and alteration for more charges on my paralyzer blade.

Ah ok. I have an Imperial character currently though, so should I opt to keep the resistance enchantments or change it up to that? And is better to have frost/fire/shock resistance, or just straight up magic resistance?

This seems like a fun and practical enchantment. Between the paralysis stun chance, and the power attack stun chance the enemy hasn't a chance. especially if you dual wield and use spinning power attacks

personally i've left my helm empty for now, but im a dual wielder (maces) and i have

armor : hp and heavy armor
gaunts: heavy armor and 1h
boots: fire/1h
ring: shock/1h
neck: frost/1h

also with 100 alchemy (but not even many skills placed) you can make such strong potions that basically make you a god. its even better if you're an orc, cause in tight spots you can use zerker rage to do double damage and take half damage for 60 seconds. seriously it isn't even fair.

its funny to enchant 4 pieces to give you bonus alchemy, then you use that to make an enchanting potion (+32% enchanting is the highest potion i've been able to make...better than the 25% you can buy in shops) then you use that to enchant sets for bonus smiting, and your regular set of +1h etc. i think im at like +48% 1h damage on all pieces i can, over 50% resis for fire/shock/frost and loooots of heavy armor which really boosts your armor rating.
wear a set of +28 or 29% smithing bonus, plus use a potion that gives you +130% smithing for 30 seconds and you'll be amazed by how strong your equip can get. i think currently i have 1300 armor rating (heavy armor isn't maxed yet) and 1000+ attack damage (1h isn't maxed yet either) and thats without the bonus 130% 1h for 30 second potion i can make (2300 attack rating) or zerker rage, another double damage.
i can 1h dragons...it isn't fair, i don't necessarily recommend this setup because even on master things are just too easy now

edit: oh right, forgot to mention i don't enchant my weaps because i use elemental fury shout as my main shout (raises attack speed, which negates the poor attack speed for maces) and to use that you can't have your weaps enchanted

How well does paralyze work? I have an feeling it mostly work for weaker enemies?
Not all enchants work for followers, I saw an list once but can not find it, does anybody know.

i again personally find any enchant that raises your base stats to be best. there are lots of enchants that only work on things up to certain levels and such, which become useless after awhile and what not. im not 100% sure about the paralyze one myself but im pretty sure it would be the same thing, plus you can juse use a paralyze potion anyway, which would be MUCH MUCH stronger if you level alchemy what so ever.
i think i can make a paralyze potion that lasts like 15-18 seconds
