Best Looking Armor?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:43 am

What say you?

Personally, I find the upper level armors to be too fantastic looking. I much prefer a realistic look, especially for my dirty, gruff and down-to-earth mercenary. It kind of kills the mood when I'm covered in black spikes and the bones of elder gods. I think I prefer the look of regular old iron armor, with tattered cloth spitting out of its cracked edges.

I will say Daedric armor is a huge improvement over Oblivion's "rake armor." Dragon armor just looks silly, especially with those upturned pauldrons.

Elven Armor on a female character, particularly a slim Khajiit, is just perfect.

A lot of people agree with you but a lot of people don't. I purposely used iron and steel up until I finished the civil war, then I graduated myself to Dwarven, Glass, etc. I use both light and heavy. I tend to use armor based on my mood or what I'm doing. Like I'll mix up straight up Dwarven or mix it up with Ebony guantlets and boots.

I like Glass Armor more, it's shiny and a little less Elvish than Elvish.

Plate Steel. Not the normal steel, but the Plated version. Except for the helmet, which looks a bit odd from the front.

Daedric is not bad, but it really makes you look like a demon, so only fitting for evil characters in my opinion.

The Dragonbone/scale armours are ugly.

If you want a light armour version that looks normal and don't want leather, use one of the guard armours of one of the holds. They look pretty good.

I'm biased toward Ebony, as it's always been my favorite.

But banded iron armor is really cool looking. Realistic and all, gritty, etc. Wasn't a fan of steel, but I was using steel plate armor until I crafted a set of ebony. It's probably my favorite so far.

Didn't like falmer or nord hero armor at all. Daeric looks pretty cool, but I never actually wear it.

I'll also say there should be a method to make any kind of armor as viable as another, as long as they're the same type. Any piece of heavy armor should have the same potential for protection as daedric, if you're willing to put the effort and resources into it. That way, you can wear whatever you like the look of best, without your health being punished for it.

Maybe something like... you can give one piece of armor another piece's stats via a special ritual. Forge and enchant a daedric set, then impart its properties onto something like studded armor, or whatever you'd like.

The armor that the Thane of Whiterun gives you is sweet with the Celtic looking pauldrons.

i like that regular leather armor and the thievesguild armor. all others are to shiny and i everytime i wear that "endgame" armors, i feel like being a transformer. just too much armor around me even with light armor. i would be glad if bethesda implemented some more natural looking-like leather armors.

studded armor > all ;) I really love it and suffer badly sometimes when these enemies that really start to outgear me armorwise land a blow. Let's see how long I can keep it up! (looking for "barbaric looking" alternatives though)

redguard garb wins all
even tho it doesnt have any armor rating :P

otherwise prob some iron or steal armor ( its not that u need so much armor in this game anyway)

dwarven/elven with the golden mask looks sweet too

I'd like Wolf Armor very well if not for the pauldrons and the chunky bracers. Really, armor without shoulder gear always looked good to me.

Right now, my Dunmer assassin is running around in complete Elven gear, sans helm. Instead he's going with an Apprentice hood. Everything else, right down to my arrows and daggers, is Elven as well

I have Orcish armor and helmet with Dwarven gauntlets and boots, it goes nicely together. That is without me seeing beyond Orcish armot.

Personally I like steel plate armour. I also love the stormcloak officer helmet which is a wolf skin.
