Best RPG Ever?

Post » Fri Jul 19, 2013 10:01 pm

I love RPG games. I have played Dragon Age over and over. Hey I get my money's worth. LOL So everyone is saying why dont you get Skyrim? You will love it. I am not that good at fighting but I like helping people and running around doing stuff. I liked Kingdom of Amalur also. I felt like a super hero fighting. I finally got the controls. So now I think I am ready for Skyrim. I get it and Oblivion. Wow what a let down. I cannot get my character to do a damn thing. I try to talk I steal something. I finally pull my weapon and get the [censored] beat out of me. I am so pissed I threw the controller. I hit every damn button on it. Why dont they make the fighting like other games. I cannot remember all this crap. Can someone write down what each one does. Or better yet I am so mad I want another game. Can anyone suggest a good RPG?

I don't think this is the forum you meant to post on.

http://www.gamesas.com/forum/117-v-skyrim/

Maybe there? But I don't think they're going to be able to fix this problem for you.

So strange. I thought that TES games are perfect for this kind of players. Maybe lower the difficulty, you won't die so often and will be able to focus on your story instead of combat.

Planescape: Torment. Can't beat that game in terms of story.

Sounds like Rune Factory or Harvest Moon is the ideal game for you.

Stick with Skyrim it really isn't that hard and once you get the hang of things they will flow intuitively.

Check the cursor before using the activate button. If it is not enabled, enable crosshairs in the menu settings. Using the crosshairs you can eaily see if the activation button will let you talk to someone or pick something up.

Pulling your weapon in a town is a bad idea, especially if people don't know and like you yet. technically it is a crime and guards will try to arrest or kill you.

If you like superhero stuff, try getting shouts and magic spells, there are some pretty spectacular effects in there.

Meanwhile, the best RPG ever made is Morrowind, TES3, but that is far more arcane and convoluted than Skyrim so probably not your kind of thing.

It's all preference, not fact.

Actually, Skyrim is designed to be used with an xbox-controller and many pc players do. At release the pc version was even set to use an xbox controller and people had to select for mouse manually. Not knowing this caused a lot of forum posts by people that didn't understand why the controls were so clunky and easily misclickable.

Not so easy when you're on console... But Skyrim can be easily played with a controller. Like Merari said, the interface and menu controls were designed specifically for consoles.

It's a player problem. If you're stealing something when trying to talk then it's because you're pointing the cursor at an object instead of the NPC you're talking to. Skyrim lets you move around a bit when talking, stand still and don't look around while in a conversation.

It sounds like you would prefer more of a turn based RPG then a live action one like Skyrim and there's many of those on the market. Also Morrowind sounds more of your speed if you can stand the outdated graphics and diceroll combat that's technically live but more determined by character skill then player skill

Thank you for the help if you had a suggestion. I am using a xbox 360. I do not have a PC version. I will try some of the suggestions though. Also if you are interested Witcher is a good game too. I played 2. I have Witcher 1 which only comes as a PC version but I have not finished it.

I don't think I can pick just one. Majora's Mask, Vampire the Masquerade Bloodline, Knights of the Old Republic, Final Fantasy X, and many more not coming to the top of my head right now.

To me it sounds like Skyrim is exactly the game you should play. You would learn some patience. Skyrim is already a modern easy game that holds your hand tightly. The game has a manual you can read. Read the buttons from there. There aren't many of them. And about combat, you can always lower the game's difficulty setting.
