Let's rank the top ten spouse options in Skyrim! Rank in terms of best fighter/mage, how much property they own (default inventory items, houses etc), how good looking they are. Also factor in the spouse's in-game status.

Lydia. It takes a little while(halfway through the main quest) but she is awesome and worth it. Don't know what she owns.

Haha. She'll like being a pack mule even less. When she inevitably is killed by a troll or something, I will momentarily weep -- because I can't carry all the stuff in her inventory plus my own -- and then remarry and carry on.

Camilla Valerius gets my vote. She's the sister of a trader, if he dies she becomes the owner of the trade shop and you get everything she owns by marrying her. She's good looking, knows how admire poetry, and is in demand by two men already. Much better than Lydia, a lowly servant dressed in horrible clothing. As for combat... she svcks.
