Who do you think the best villain is? It can be from any media. Books, games, movies, TV shows, etc.

I'm having a hard time choosing between Ocelot (MGS), Moebius (LoK), Kane (C&C), and Agent Smith (Matrix).

Darth Vader (at least before his origins were undermined.) The epitome of an all-powerful, unrelenting evil that thwarts the heroes at every turn, with an iconic look, signature sound, and devastating weapons. Simple yet sophisticated, part monster, part machine, and utterly evil (nearly) with a surprising shred of humanity hidden beneath his cruel veneer. Pure cinematic gold.

I've always liked the Joker. There's something about him I liked.

That's a pretty good list. Agent smith I thought was what made the matrix movies, especially in contrast to Keanu Reeves's (and the chick who plays Trinity) terrible acting.

My favourite villain would probably have to be Jon Irenicus from Bauldur's Gate 2. Of course, Dagoth Ur is also up there with my favourite villains as well.

The most recent favourite of mine was Van Damme as the bad guy in Expendables 2, even though those are sorta joke movies, or novelties at best, Van dam was a pretty good bad guy.

Is it because he wouldn't let his son marry a commoner in the beggining?

Jon Irenicus from Baldurs Gate 2. Hands down. He's so hateable, but he also felt believable. And he's so cool!

Runner ups go to Heiss from Radiant Historia and Sarevok from Baldurs Gate 1.

Any media?

That would have to be Hannibal Lecter without a doubt. Often psychotic, yet never impolite.
