Best way to max out Magic Resist?

Post » Sat Jul 07, 2012 7:39 am

So, I was about to enchant my final set of armor, and considering the tremendous benefit of 85% resistance to magic, I want to take it into account when choosing my enchantments. So, I hope you guys can help me decide how to hit 85%, when considering the character is not a Breton (no automatic 25% resist), and I won't be using a shield (one of three items that can be enchanted with resist magic). Here are the means I know of, what are your thoughts on the best combo, with efficiency in mind? Thanks!
Lord Stone-25%
Agent of Mara Power (from the Book of Love quest)-15%
Magic Resistance Perk (alteration)-1perk=10%, 2perks=20%, 3perks=30%

And, of course, the enchantment-not sure what the max is w/o restoration or falmer helmet glitch, number anyone?

Along with that of the Shield of Solitude-not sure what the max is w/o restoration or falmer helmet glitch, number anyone?

TL;DR What are the highest magic resist enchantments possible with alchemy/enchanting/smithing chain, and what is the best way to hit 85% resist magic?

Thanks again guys

Resist magic rates lower than individual resists. It's base is 8%. According to the wiki the highest multiplier (when using potions) is 3.65, so that would give you a 29%~ resist on 2 items.

Without potions I think the highest you can get on resist magic is 25%, so 50% on your armors, which leaves another 35% that you could get via alteration, Lords stone etc. Assuming you have dual enchanting I would enchant the necklace/ring with resist magic (and whatever else you choose) then pick up whatever power/perks/stones make sense for you.
