Bethesda, could you please fix the Erik the Slayer bug in th

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 8:53 am

I've tried marrying Erik the Slayer with a former character and it didn't work.
Now I've tried with a new character and it's still bugged.
I think there are lots of players who got their eyes on Erik the Slayer.
Besides Onmund, there are not many other interesting males in Skyrim to marry.
No hunters, no elves, ...
So would it be possible to patch the fact that you can't marry Erik for X Box?
I heard it has been patched for Play Station...

I strongly doubt that the PS3 has something that the Xbox doesn't.

There is no way to marry Erik on any platform(without mods or console commands) its not a bug, Its not a Hearthfire issue, its simply just how the game was shipped. Some idiot on the wiki added him to the marriage list because he was able to do it with console commands.

Then why is he listed in the official game guide as a legitimate marriage candidate?

Because the offical game guide wasn't written by people who actually played the game. It used pre-release information given months before Skyrim was finished.

Ow! Too bad. Maybe Bethesda should have more females on the team... or I should have a lisbian character then. ;-)
At least I managed to employ Erik as my Steward with one character so there he's not always bugged as steward, just depends on when you take him to your home I guess...

What did you do differently so he did not become bugged?
I tried making Erik my steward but he didnt have any steward dialogue.
I had to reload because he couldnt be dismissed.

I hate Erik so much. He is at the bottom of my list of followers. Cosnach is the only guy worth having around in my mind. He will drink Erik under the table.

I was determined to find a male to marry in this playthrough, but I'm not having much luck. I have started considering the mead-obsessed guy with a huge debt at the tavern in Kynesgrove as a viable option, simply on the basis that he's no more boring than any of the others, and he's not covered in dirt - that's how low my standards have sunk. The female NPCs tend to be much more interesting. I have no problem with marrying a female NPC, but I did that last game, so I was determined this time to find at least one male who didn't either bore me to tears, or turn my stomach. It's not going well so far.

New here but I have your fix.

I had the same issue with Erik as my steward but he would continuously give me a line about hiring him at no charge.

So I hired him, took him to riverwood's general store. Dismissed him so he went back to my lakeview manor and then waited about 24 hours in-game time. I went back he was fixed. I tried this on two separate characters on my 360 and it works.
