Yet with the release of Skyrim I am quite surprised by those complaining.I am sure they feel justified but they really are living in a box , it appears they are oblivious to what's been going on within the unregulated industry as a whole.
Those of us on PC whom remember the good old days have spent several years complaining about an industry hell bent on greed.Across genre games have become restrictive, streamlined garbage. All done it is alleged, to appeal to the casual gamer and prevent piracy.
We have witnessed a drive by ALL of the main publishers to lockdown custom content...break up gaming communities by removing aspects of games that encourage it ,punishing it's customer base with ever more intrusive DRM for a common purpose.
The console market is huge, they know they can invest in market hype and release an inferior ,short, watered down product to secure their DLC...and console who have never experienced community ..continue to buy. Then 12 months later reskin and again milk them for 3x face value.Long gone are the days of actual expansion packs.
So..Bethesda's release of Skyrim goes against the grain and is most welcome.Sure hardcoe RPG fans know it's somewhat streamlined but that's an insignificant payoff for what you are actually getting.
Skyrim is quite simply the greatest RPG since Balders Gate...IMO Bethesda's finest work. They should be lauded for their return to quality not vilified for a little streamlining and bugs.We all know Bethesda were singing from the same songsheet as EA, Activision, Fallout new vegas anybody?
Must have been an inside job..a few rebelious ,consciencious PC devs will no doubt be released as they have sabotaged the industry.
Skyrim is the standard games will now be judged on across platform.Empowering gamers.
A wall of text would ensue throwing superlatives on why this game is so good....but I will end by saying this game deserves expansion packs.
A word of warning.Whilst I am certain the Bethesda suits (guilty of stereotyping console players ) didn't think producing a hardcoe RPG with longevity would appeal . The sales alone tell a different story and devs should enhance and raise the standard.Don't ruin the games lagacy like DA2 did to Origins .They have a winner ,a classic .
