Bethesda Knew

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 12:50 pm

If the patch was gonna fix the problem next week, then surely they would've come out and said so directly, instead of inviting all this speculation. "Improve performance" - what the hell does that mean? How about "framerate and texture pop-in will be corrected to proper levels"? As I've said before, unless Bethesda tested the game on the only 5 PS3s in the world that didn't suffer from the lag problem, they had to have known about it BEFORE LAUNCH.

I agree, they most certainly did know.

so if they knew does this mean that theres a higher chance of it being fixed in this patch, given that they had more time to solve the issue?

I don't know, but it does mean that there is a higher chance of me not buying another Bethesda product again.

I agree,

I feel cheated. Like Bethesda just stole my sweet roll, and laughed all the way to Riften. They knew about it and they did nothing to inform us. It shows in how they're being so discreet and vague in their responses in addressing this game breaking bug. They sold us consumers a defective product. They're going to have to fix the issues or i'm not going to buy anything from them again.
It shows they didn't do their job in the QA testing. Sure, the game is "expansive" and someone's going to comment on how "games like this have bugs etc etc" but bugs that make a game completely unplayable? I don't think so. I can deal with quest muck ups or texture failing. This bug that has plagued us ps3 users, is just pathetic. Especially for a company as large as Bethesda.

Possibly, but what I think is definite is that if the patch next week truly does address the issue, then they definitely knew about this issue before release and have had some time to work on it.

Of course they knew, why do you think they never showed off any PS3 footage period? Why do you think they sent only Xbox 360 versions to reviewers, even if those reviewers requested a PS3 copy? They absolutely knew the PS3 version is in this state, and intentionally covered up that fact. I wonder if any of the money they spent, paid off the big review sites like Gamespot, and IGN to write a good review, and make no mention of this issue on PS3. I've been saying since the Fallout: New Vegas fiasco, that Bethesda has a disdain for the PS3 for some unknown reason. I think we all know the reason now, Microsoft bought Bethesda off and gave them no incentive to make a decent PS3 copy of Skyrim. They were probably bought off by Microsoft well before Skyrim, probably back in the Fallout 3 days.

I just think they dont have anyone there that knows how the PS3 truly functions considering this same problem has been happening since Fallout 3.

The only way to make Bethesda hear you is to not buy their next game during the first month of its release. It's that simple. Money talks.

Skyrim is the first and probably last time I will pre-order a Bethesda game.

Of course they knew, it would have been impossible for them not to have. And if this patch fixes it, it would seem rather quick wouldn't it.

I expect the truth to come out one day, Team Bondi-like, the truth wil come out.

Did the knew about this? Yes. Is the patch going to fix this? No.

DISCLAIMER: This is a personal opinion with no intention of flaming, trolls and Bethdrones please hold your self from wasting your time on trying to change my opinion.

If they knew about it, they would have enough time to fix it for the day 1 patch, but they didn't. Now you think in a week they solved the biggest problem they have with their games on the PS3 since FO:3? (Oblivion was perfect for me in performance so cant say). Which, since 2008 still didn't fix? I say no, if they abandoned hope for the Fallout's, why should they care for Skyrim, they are not afraid of people threatening of lawsuits because they would win. Gaming website thrashing them? Nah, they have enough money to buy them off from us buying Skyrim. So in my opinion, there are really slim chances of them fixing it.

But deep down.... I...I have a dream....of lag free Skyrim.....

How do you know the patch wont fix it?

Few people on this forum claim it wont fix the lag issues. They must have contacts at Bethesda then

Noone knows the patch won't fix it. If they claim to know, they are lying. All we know is that Bethesda have said they will fix it. That's all. There is literally nothing we can do but wait and find out.

If they had the ability to fix the issue why wasnt it fixed for FO:3 DLC or FO:NV? Why wasnt it fixed pre launch? you dont honestly think that with this being the third game to be released with this engine on the PS3 to have this problem that they didnt know this was happening do you? if they could fix it they would. More so if they could fix it they would at least directly adress it. they're going to continue to do there best to ignore/sweep this under the rug as they have with past titles. Considering they've failed to fix it twice in the past i think they have to PROVE they actually can fix before people should clamor around the camp fire and listen to their stories.

Skyrim has a new engine compared to Fallout games. This new engine by all accounts is alot more stable and bug free than the old Gamebryo engine, so it could be alot easier to fix

this is myth. bethesda can clain that that isnt the gamebryo engine till their face turns blue but it is and always will be a tweaked upgrade and nothing more.

I dont know if that is really true. Sony's quality control process isnt like ly to entail 40hrs of play. Maybe, but i dunno.

Totally agree, cause in the short period time we(PS3 users) posted here about the framerare drop, no way they woulda have the time to do a patch to be release couple days after... So if the patch fix the issue, i will be happy, but still feel cheated, because it will be [censored] obvious they knew BEFORE RELEASE.

Agreed - while for me Skyrim has been nearly bug free, so it does seem this rendition is more stable, there are tons of small details about the game which are far too similar to the Gamebryo engine to think it is completely new, not by any small part being a massive lag bug which has appeared repeatedly in other titles.

They probably knew, but because they promoted their 11-11-11 release date so much they likely felt they couldn't postpone the launch, even though the game clearly wasn't ready.

Other possibilities are that they could just be incompetent, or that this was a devious and underhanded strategy by Microsoft; I wonder how many people have traded their PS3 copy for an Xbox 360 one? Heck, I'd even bet there have been a few desperate people who have gone and bought a brand new Xbox 360 console just so they can play this game properly. Such a strategy seems like it would be illegal, though, and therefore unlikely. Either way, though, Microsoft have undoubtedly profited from this whole thing.

What seems totally odd...I don't care if they knew about it but why does it take over a week to authorize an update but they don't test the original game that long...

Microsoft have been known to stretch the boundaries of what is considered ethical consumerist tactics before... :whistling:
