--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Almost all the issues with RAGE are hardware/driver related and not an issue with the game itself.

Please note the following from Bethesda:

ATI and NVIDIA are working on updated drivers that should be released today/tomorrow that will fix multiple issues.

Bethesda is working on an update to allow for users to customize their video options which will solve many of the issues users are having.

For the latest information please visit http://www.bethblog.com
Thank you for your patience with this matter. All parties are working as fast as they can to correct the problems with RAGE.

While that is good to hear, why the hell didn't they discover and fix these problems BEFORE the game got released?

That's great news, as I am not even considering buying this until the issues have been resolved. But a patch for something that should always be in a modern PC game (graphics customization)? Hey, it's great that they are fixing this very obvious mistake but one can wonder as to why it wasn't included to begin with.

It's almost as if some companies are releasing broken games to slow down piracy, then patch it up after a few days / weeks. I imagine less people will have the patience to scrounge around for cracks working with the latest (needed) patches, and some decide to just buy it instead.

It's my bet that forced this turd out to beat Battlefield 3 to the market, as that will kill the sales of a lot of games. We all know what happens when you force a turd too hard: you're left with a bleeding anus.

Driver issues my ass.

Its ID's fault for not making the game run on current drivers. I'll say it again for the 100th time. How in the hell did this game get out of QA? Oh I know they didn't bother to test this on PC.

Ill be excited when and if they release video options and it blows me away. In all odds it will be less than expected. Creating additional video settings may simple me, oh heres a resolution setting as well.

The textures in this game kinda blow, there isnt a video setting that would make them better. You would have to redo the textures. The same goes for a lot of things, such as the lighting in the game and the progressive texture scanning system. Probably likely to see the game get better from 3rd party gamers writing mods for it after that releases than see ID spend extra time and effort making their game special for the few PC players that have enthusiast systems.

It's id's fault, for working with such an censored publisher like Bethesda, who doesn't give a damn about what PC gaming is all about. Just look at Oblivion or Fallout 3. They ruin just everything.
Rage will never be the hit, that Doom3 was, and no future idsoftware game will be.

Really folks? This is id's first game using this engine and you expect it to run flawlessly on a million different types of hardware setups?
You can't test this, it takes time.
If you don't like it play an Unreal engine game that's been tried and tested with 100's of games, or.... just get a console!

You brought this upon yourselves.

true but hey honestly you cant say it looks bad with how it looks currently you simply cant if i compare this to other games that just popped up or had an equal hype. ID did good once again - if you keep the current problems out of discussion that is
And i think there will be some sort of Hgh res pack comming since the game still has a lot of room for dlc content or other.
But the style of the Game is typicall for an ID game even if they stepped into something new with the engine and the racers great composition in my eyes and that will be noticable fo anyone who gets their game finally working and playable.

Doom3 was the first game which uses the idtech4 engine, and yes, it was running flawlessly on a million different types of hardware setups ;)

Aye, a fair assumption. Not sure how much it'll help in that department though. Not a fan of the Battlefield series but at this point it looks like it'll be a better buy than this thing.

If this is truly a driver issue with BOTH AMD and Nvidia drivers, then HOW did they beta test the game ???? On an intel Media Chipset ??????

Indeed. They can say whatever they want, but can you people believe them? They certainly saw all the problems and they thought who cares for the PC, we now have this game on xbox and ps3 and let the comunity and the graphics card companies fix our game.

Hope that's some sarcasm regarding Doom 3, it was a horrible mess as well when released, If fact if I remember correctly, Doom and Quake were probably the only games good to go out of the box.

It's the norm with PC games, very few ship without issue's, Wait it out , they'll patch it up, everything will be just fine.

funny thing is, they are blaming nvidia and ati for compatibility problems, but its the devs responsabiltiy to to make sure they test the game fully before hand, to make sure its compatible BEFORE they launch it. If i brought out a game and it didnt work on other peoples machines, i could say its not my fault, the game works fine, its your systems that are to blame, but i wouldnt sell many copies. Just becuase they are big developers, they think they can get away with half arsed testing, and jsut shift the blame to everyone else but them.

funny thing is, they are blaming nvidia and ati for compatibility problems,

I think you are misreading that quote from the Steam forum.

It was DerrickG of Valve who said

"Almost all the issues with RAGE are hardware/driver related and not an issue with the game itself."

The rest of that statement was the actual part from Bethesda:
Please note the following from Bethesda:
  • ATI and NVIDIA are working on updated drivers that should be released today/tomorrow that will fix multiple issues.
  • Bethesda is working on an update to allow for users to customize their video options which will solve many of the issues users are having.
  • For the latest information please visit http://www.bethblog.com
Thank you for your patience with this matter. All parties are working as fast as they can to correct the problems with RAGE.

Here is a bit more background about launch issues from John Carmack in an interview with Kotaku:

"We knew that all older AMD drivers, and some Nvidia drivers would have problems with the game, but we were running well in-house on all of our test systems. When launch day came around and the wrong driver got released, half of our PC customers got a product that basically didn't work.

He did not seek to shift blame. It is a fact, however, that AMD released the wrong driver on Oct 3, as mentioned by AMD.

No, there was no horrible mess. There was an issue with 5.1 Sound, but that was all of it, worth mentionable.
At release, I was one of a few Mods at Germanys biggest Doom3-Site, Doom3.de, and I can't remember that it was anything like this today with Rage.
In fact, idsoftware released one patch 1.3, which fixes minor bugs and disabled the copy protection, so that you don't needed the Discs to play it.

The next patch was 1.3.1, which makes Doom3 Vista compatible, that's all of the long story ;)
