Bethesda owes PS3 players compensation [Thread 2]

OP:
Of what sort? I don't have something specific in mind. Perhaps free or half-off all DLC. Perhaps something else. All I know is that they owe us, and before anyone chimes in with that "they don't owe you or anyone anything" nonsense, here's all I'm going to say to you: we paid for the same product and did not receive the same quality.

I don't know what manner of excuse they could possibly have for being just about the only company having trouble developing for the PS3--many publishers and developers, Bethesda included, have a history of successful multiplatform games with huge expansions even bigger than Dawnguard (Shivering Isles and all of GTA IV, for instance), and the system is plenty old enough for a company experienced with it like Bethesda to be expected to make a game with few foreseeable problems--but regardless of reason, Playstation 3 owners require the compensation we deserve.

I did not pay $150 USD for a collector's edition and pick up the game at a midnight release for this crap. Skyrim performs invariably worse on PS3 and now absolutely no one outside of the company (and maybe not even people within Bethesda) know whether DLC will ever be released for it.

Last few big posts:
Spoiler
So much has been said already. I want to put in my two-penneth worth regarding Bethesda's obligation to provide DLC.
Bethesda have previously produced downloadable content for their blockbuster games. According to Wikipedia, there were restrictions on the release of Fallout 3 DLC to PS3 due to contracts held with Microsoft; all the DLC was eventually released on PS3 in October, some 4-6 months after the Xbox 360. Similarly, Fallout: New Vegas saw the release of DLC, the initial episode arriving as late as two months after the Xbox 360 release and the following episode, due for simultaneous release, arriving a month after following the 3 week PSN outage due to hacking.
The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion tells a similar tale of woe for PS3 owners. A total of ten DLC packs were available to Xbox 360 owners, albeit some as simple as upgraded horse armour. The two main DLC packs (Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine) did make their way to PS3, but only as part of the GotY or 5th Anniversary edition stand-alone disc sets.
The launch party was surely the biggest indication that Skyrim was a AAA grade release; how then could the gaming community expect anything less than DLC; it is implicit from the publicity and the company's track record. When we went to the shops or mail order sites to buy the game, we 'knew' that Bethesda would be producing DLC. When weighing the pros and cons of buying the game, the availability of DLC would have been a factor we relied on as fact.
Given the history of DLC content for PS3 from native Bethesda releases, should we be surprised this has come to pass. It doesn't matter whether or not Skyrim ever gets DLC. The real issue is whether Bethesda have full control over their own product. If you'll excuse me for my conspiracism, I theorise that Microsoft's demands for preferential performance over an engine which worked equally well on both console platforms is responsible for the bugs which plague the PS3 release.
So do we deserve compensation? No. Why? Because we should have known better. Bethesda, for whatever reason, favours Microsoft over Sony, and this manifests itself in poorly programmed games, stunted release schedules, and a plethora of performance bugs throughout. My only hope is that they do not repeat this trend with id Software.
I understand you and agreed with most of what you said up until your hypothetical conspiracy; were Microsoft able to do such a thing with any game or publisher at all then it would likely happen with other multiplatform games--specifically ones guaranteed to generate more income, like Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto.
Bethesda's poor performance, as far as I am currently able to understand it, can only be attributed to gross incompetence or gross irresponsibility.
Bethesda does not owe us compensation for having substandard gaming experiences with their product. They DO OWE us a working game that can be played as defect free as the other two platforms. We didn't receive that on 11/11/11. When the 1.4 patch came out, the game smoothed out significantly as far as graphics loading and seriously dented, though it DID NOT eliminate the frame lag issue. They should have continued refining the memory utilization demands, but DID NOT. The reality was they barely got the game to run to begin with, and as Murt said, just under the memory processing maximum, that their port would work with.
Seems like I've said it so many times, but I'll say it again. We were SOL from the get go (11/11/11) when it came to additional game content. You don't have to look any further than the last patches, to see this. A few more killcams, mounted horse combat, pssshhh, these trivial little additions, have, at least for me, made the game regress backwards from the patch 1.4 level. Pretty sure I'm not alone. We get a brief honeymoon where the game looks rosier, then it sinks right back into the sludge, only a bit deeper than before.
I do wish Bethesda would just be honest and say NO DLC for PS3 with the current game release. As for the future , who knows...
I agree. And I disagree. I see your point. I've had the "you have no one to blame but yourself" lecture from my mother for 28 years. But if Bethesda wants to actually keep customers.....They will have to compensate. The ship has sailed regarding many people's patience.
Or has it? There are still some people (whom I hesitate to call "apologists") that are still too forgiving of Bethesda. That and, despite all our backlash, the company refuses to show progress or promise--if there is any.

Let's continue.

next time dont buy the collector's edition of anything bethesda, then maybe they'll get a clue to fix/bug test they're games properly before releasing it and disappointing its fans.

Won't make a difference if you buy or not. By and large publishers don't care how many people buy their games, only that the retailers buy several million for the launch week, most AAA games turn a profit on release day alone, not buying just means a smaller profit because the second shipment would be smaller.

And if Bethesda were capable of understanding the disappointment of PS3 gamers then Skyrim wouldn't have featured the same issues that plagued Fallout 3. The inconsistent frame rate, the memory leaks, the crashes, the lack of DLC, the lack of patches and most importantly of all, the lack of communication about all those issues.
