Bethesda... Please read this! If you could do one thing..

Hello,
Let me start out by saying that this pertains to xbox/playstation, even though I am a pc gamer. The issue I see is the limited hot keying available to consoles using the d pad. Though not a relevent problem on pc, I am bothered by the decision to only allow 2 hot keys for consoles.
Bethesda (or employees/developers) I hope you take time to read this.
My case in point,
The removal of classes in skyrim was in part to keep players from having to feel like they are restricted to one type of gameplay. Even further, todd howard is quoted saying he didnt want people to feel like they have to restart just because they want to play a bit differently. Awesome, I agree 100%.
The problem, however, is that 2 hotkeys makes it frustrating to play a jack of all trades or dual classes without breaking the immersion. This unfortunately forces those who dont want to pause the game to be restricted in gameplay. The exact opposite of the intentions of the developers. Even further, while I enjoy the concept of favoriting, the break in immesion gets old quickly having to pause the game just to equip a spell or weapon.
So I know that this is probably a lost cause, but I beg you bethesda, give an option to console gamers to have more hot keys! Even if dpad up stays to open the favorites menu, the direction pad can still provide 7 hot keys, plenty for most any gamer to feel free to play the way they want.
Again, I want to stress that this doesnt even pertain to me, but I want console gamers to experience the game as I do. My friend who plays it on xbox has already restarted his character because he got frustrated with not being able to map out everything for his character, feeling like he wasted perks in areas he cant use unless he pauses the game all the time. so now hes playing single class, making 2 hot keys almost playable.
Maybe its difficult to do, I really don't know, but If everyone could enjoy the ability to play any way they wanted without having to break immersion every five seconds I think it would be great. And if you like just 2 hot keys, then you could keep the original controls.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope someone listens....

There just really isn't much more room for hotkeys. Don't get my wrong, I'd love our console fellows to have a decent number of hotkeys, I just can't see Beth working more HKs in.

Theres plenty of keys on the d-pad..... Up on the d pad would open favorites, the left joystick can cycle through the list and pushing and holding one of the 7 directions on the d pad would hot key it....
In fact, i use a xbox controller on my pc sometimes when im lazy and theres a simple control map mod that does just this.
I too would like the options available to all.

Up on the Dpad for favorites menu. and the rest of the directions including the diagonal ones, for hotkeys. If they did it in fallout, why not skyrim? Laziness is why.

Yeah I have to agree. I play on Ps3 and the I have to pause the game frequently. Having more hot keys on the d pad would mean less pausing, greater immersion, and overall better game play; it would make the combat a whole lot smoother. I really don't understand why this wasn't implemented (as do I with a lot of things in Skyrim), but it would be much appreciated if this was patched in and one of the first things implemented in Fo4.

In Fallout you could click on the angles of the d-pad to. I don't know why they didn't use this feature in Skyrim if i'm not mistaken you can hot key 1-8 on pc. the d-pad had the same number (1-8) in Fallout.

Yep, oblivion, just as fallout 3 had all 8 hot keys mapped to the dpad. Even new vegas is closer, with up being ammo type selection and the remaining 7 directions for hot keys.
Cmon bethesda, you dont have to redo the controls completely, just have an option for "classic" controls! I know you can do it I believe in you.

I don't know about the 360 version, but hotkeys are useless on PS3 since it takes about 5 seconds to change between a bow and a sword. So my wish would be that they fix that above all else.

If you havent played the PC version, I can see why you might think this was annoying. But as a PC player, I will be upfront with you: The menu system is broken. Broken badly. For us, it tends to not actually change selections, and you have to stop using the mouse to actually change which dialogue/menu item to open. and if you arent super precise when clicking, it just closes the thing.

Im guessing they left it out because the UI is held together by sticks and bubblegum. The bugs are likely unsolvable without a complete reworking. I believe this is why the options were left out. Its already so broken, that any more wouldve made it unusable.
