Bethesda's Response

My original email
My copy of The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim for the Playstation 3 seems incompatible with my SDTV. The HUD is cut off I can barely see my compass at the top, I cannot see my health, magic, or stamina bars at the bottom. Also on the menu the items and magic are cutoff and cannot see what I need. Also the top corner where it tells me what I just received is also cutoff. I want to know if this issue is going to be fixed in a patch. If not I would like my money back. As a consumer I feel like I got ripped off due to a lack of warning for SDTV users Thank you-Nicholas

Bethesda's Resonse
Hey Nicholas,

You may want to try to see if there are any setting options for your television. For example, try different display resolutions. Also, what type of cable is your television capable of utilizing. If you can use component cables, you will get a better resolution as opposed to the most basic cable. This is actually something that is happening with console games in general as most of the capabilities for televisions out there are moving to all HD quality. You can also buy a VGA cable which allows you to plug your console directly into your PC monitor. Again, we are sorry for the frustration involved; outside of upgrading your television and trying the above suggestions, there are no other options that would assist you. All refund requests must be taken up with the point of purchase.

Regards,

Dan M.

Gonna have to agree. I'll bash Bethesda all day for giving me a laggy p.o.s, but the only thing to blame in this fault is your TV. These games are built and optimized for HD, time to upgrade. Be glad they replied.

I ended up buying an HDTV for this game. At first I was really disappointed that it wasn't working on my SDTV, but after I went and bought a new TV I was thrilled. It was so worth it, now TV shows and movies look great as do all my other games. If you can fork up the cash just get one, they're actually really cheap now (got a 24 inch 1080 that was on sale for $99). You'll be happier :celebrate:

I've left Skyrim on the shelf until I get a HDTV, I'm really disappointed. I was so excited to get it but just set it away to collect dust because I can't stand to play it on my TV.
