Bethesda what have you done?

Wtf is up the mass vampire and gargoyle attacks?! Half of Riften is dead! Surely this is a bug?

My mate and I took a day off work to play the game at his house to see whether it was worth me buying, but not in this condition. I thought the restoration and alchemy loops were gamebreaking but this is a joke.

The whole point of the DLC is a massive vampire threat attacking skyrim... You didnt expect for vampires to... You know... Attack?

Thats the whole point of joining the dawnguard, to protectthe cities.

First of all, how is this comparable to restoration/alchemy loops?

Second, it isn't that bad, I've played through the entire beta and I'm even playing now and I still haven't lost any citizens to the Vamp attacks. Maybe don't fast travel so much? Honestly, when they do attack, guards destroy them before they can kill anybody. If you don't want to buy it due to this small factor, then simply don't, I guess.

People who say its not a problem obviously have characters at a low level, were using a level 81 character and it is not fun.

I wouldn't mind if we could actually get to them in time, but the guards cannot handle them.

Well theres your problem.

Why start a new DLC at max level? Its an entirely separate story.

If you think thats bad wait until you 1 shot the two epic bosses with an OP character.

Three level 81 characters. Sniped them on my archer, Payed them a dental visit on my khajiit fist fighter, Calmed their butts down with my mage. Reaction timing and place are factors. It's a pain in the butt , however folks complained that things didn't feel like a war with vanilla skyrim. Now with dlc we get random attacks from vampires.

This.

I mean, im not trying to be a jerk, but wait and max out your character AFTER dawnguard or it wont be fun at all.

I respect completionists, but if you max out everything before you even begin what can you hope to gain.

You know, OP... the whole theme of the DLC is "Vampire Invasion".

It would be silly to have a "Vampire Invasion" themed DLC, but have no vampires attacking... anything.

The situation would seem ho-hum without the attacks, and then people would [censored] about "loss of immersion" or "why do we have the impending vampire attacks, but no vampire attacking, Bethesda?!?!?!?!?".

I just don't understand why people complain in this manner...

You weren't. What you said was spot on. And i think fighting off hordes of level 81 vampires would be awesome.

It's more or less the fact npc's die, meaning less quests. It's sad when it happens. But that's what autosaves and normal saves are for I suppose. I wouldn't mind if it were a bit more like hired thugs. Rather than just bursting in guns blazing. But then I herd someone complain about things never starting beofre you arrive.

Actually, you're wrong. the vampires don't kill essential NpC's. Only non-essentials die, therefore, no quest givers are gone.

Most shop owners are not essential, and even if a couple of them die, usually another member of the populace picks up the slack and runs their shop/stall.

But I've been through many vampire attacks now, and the essential NPC's take a knee while the non-essentials die.

Not to be an ass, but that happens in a hostile invasion. There are collateral losses.

But does joining the Dawnguard and defeating the Vampires actually stop the attacks? Y'know, like choice, reward and consequence?

It did for me. Only seen a few straggling vampires since I completed dawnguard side.

Kinda miss the invasions.
