Better AI And Old Type of Spellcasting Thread Thingummywut

Okay. This thread is made to talk about having better AI in enemies/allies and about if you prefer Morrowind, Oblivion, or Skyrim style spellcasting, do you want the old styles in Skyrim, and ideas of mine for spellcasting... After watching gameplay of The Elder Scrolls Online. I was reminded of the awesomeness of the old Oblivion Style Spellcasting and I saw how good of AI Zenimax can make and thought that Bethesda can probably easily do that as well... Anyways...

~Better AI~

Okay. Currently, the AI only knows a few things about what they are attacking. For example, if their target is immune to magic then they'll switch to melee, or range, instead. I've seen that happen quite a lot... However, if their target has 90% resistance to magic they will still use magic even if their own melee/range would be better.. And a lot of other things...And after watching TESO stuff... My question is, is Zenimax not telling Bethesda something? Like seriously. Some of the things in the AI sounds pretty awesome and would make things much more interesting and fun...

For instance. I like the idea of enemies with fire spells knowing that you are on an oil spill and will use fire spells to light the oil up. They don't do that in Skyrim. I think they should add this little 'smartness' to the AI. Another thought, one I've thought about, is the enemy should be able to calc your weaknesses and strengths in order to figure out what to do... Like, for example, if you are a mage then magical enemies should use wards against you and NOT use shield spells. But if you are a meleer or ranger then they'll use shield and not waste magicka on wards. They should also be smart enough to time wards correctly to block your spells (If they have it out). Another thought is mages should use whatever element you are weak to, if using that element means they'll do more damage. Or they should use melee damage or something else if you magical resistance is too high for magic to do much. And so on... Also, I would love to see AI enemies actually working together more often rather than just straight up attack you. The only team work I've seen is a Bandit yelling at his buddies saying "He's over here!"... Am I right?

So many things Bethesda can do to upgrade the AI to make it more interesting... And why not? Zenimax seem to found a way so why can't Bethesda do it? Or do they not care about the AI? Eh...

~Spellcasting~

Okay. This was always my problem with Skyrim is having to use your hands for spellcasting. I like this for some spells but I personally think they should make it possible so the shout/power can be used to cast spells when your hands are full, like back in Oblivion. However, it'll be limited and dependent on your level. That why people can still use the current spellcasting system or use this one.

Now why shout/power button? It can already be used for magic that doesn't require hands but these are limited and tbh, not used as much like spells. I wouldn't mind having to switch from certain spells to shouts and etc. Mainly because I rarely use shouts and powers!

How would you equip? Simple. Instead of pressing the normal trigger buttons to equip spells, you press the shout/power button instead to equip the spell in that slot.

What would be equipable? Like I said above, this feature should be limited. Spells that should be castable this way would be ones that certain types of characters uses all the time. For example, a 2-Handed Paladin would use restoration magic to heal himself or put up shields against the undead. Right? So it would make sense if self-healing and shield spells should be equipable. Also, all shield spells too. This includes the ones in Destruction, Alteration, and Restoration (Dawnguard). Another one should be invisibility for duel wielding thieves or assassins that does use that spell. You get what I'm saying, right? Now as for targeting spells. The ones I've seen so far should be equip'd in hands and not in the power/shout slot. Sorry. Now if they add new, Idk, destruction spells that would be more awesomener casting them this way then I guess it'll be up to Bethesda...

Anyways. I think you might get what I am saying now. So what do you think? Hate? Like? Etc. I would love to hear opinions, or ideas... Or both!
