Big detail that kept bringing me out of my roleplaying last

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 1:14 am

Seriously though how do you guys find the time to care about things like this? Like I work 8-10 hours a day, and I come home and hop on XBOX for a few hours and then I go to bed. I've loved every second of this game since I bought it and have had so much fun. All the while never caring about things like "texture pops" or dragon glitches or anything like that. I don't even care that I can't get the Blood on the Ice quest to work. I tried for like 10 minutes to get the quest to start, realized that it wouldn't and probably wasn't ever going to, so I ran on and did something else.

Maybe it's just because I have a very laid back and loose attitude and just enjoy things for what they are. I love football, but I don't rage out or get [censored] when the Falcons lose. I just say GD and then I go do something else.

I can picture some of the people who post here in my head. They're playing Skyrim, riding along on their horse and see a texture pop on a mountain or something and they pause the game, huff and puff and say "Oh that's it Bethesda, I'm comin' for you [censored]!" and then they stomp like a child when he doesn't get his way over to his computer and comes to these boards to go nutty and rage out on the Bethesda message board about how this is gamebreaking and how that is the worst thing they've ever seen in their life and such-and-such should have been done better and so-and-so is completely ruining their life through a video game. I'm just baffled how anyone can do that...like why do you care so much? It's a video game dude, enjoy it for what it is. Quit going all Castor Troy on the [censored] internet because you had a bush pop in front of you when it wasn't there a second ago.

For christ's sake man go outside and go hiking with some friends or something, that way you'll see trees and bushes from a mile away and it will never piss you off. A psychiatrist would have a field day and a 14 year back-log's worth of appointments with this forum.

As said by others. Very, VERY low on my "Want" list, but it would be sweet.

You win the thread, sir. The unplayable lag part I get. Those people should be angry. The people who are all "my textures don't look realistic enough" and "it's dumb that books fall off your bookshelf in your house" just make me shake my head. Of ALL of the things you can do in the game... these minor trivialities are what is ruining it for them. God forbid they ever try to play D&D on a tabletop. "What do you MEAN my roll failed?!? This game is garbage and WOTC is NEVER getting another dime from me!!!! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR NERDRAAAAAAGE!!!" :banghead:

Personally, I think it would be terrible if they added it. Some of skyrim's mountain slopes are just too steep for footprints to work. I mean, have you ever seen a dragon do one of their crash-slides UP a mountain?
It looks ridiculous, and i'd imagine footprints would look something similar.

I honestly can't begin can't fathom how this is the thing that can make someone feel most "un-immersed", I mean, i'm not an immersion enthusiast, as I find that I get interurrupted too often to do so, but personally, if I was, I would have a hard time convincing myself that the dragon I'm trying to fight is flying backwards due to jet propulsion from its mouth, spazzing out because gravity over the hotsprings is rediculously out of whack and it's wings arn't moving due to........ I honestly can't think of a logical explanation.

Long story short, there's bigger issues that need fixing at the moment that are more less immersive than footprints not appearing in snow and if I was game game developer, i'd probably have something like that on the development list, though i'd imagine Bethesda took it off at some point. It may not of worked, It may of taken up too much processing to track 20+ peoples footprints at once...... etc.

Or maybe, seeing as how there's many ways to play and different systems for different players, these particular players are more drawn to things like decorating their houses or appreciating the environment (not necessarily interacting with it)? You find some features meaningless because you enjoy others. That's great, I'm glad the things you enjoy about the game are unbroken. Others enjoy other things and you're in no position to dictate the value of one form of play over another. If someone is upset by the lack of bugs on a tree stump, let them be. If they're miffed by the lack of footprints in the sand, that's their right. Who are you to say otherwise?

Instead of attacking them for their opinions, try offering a serious argument against the addition of the features they deem missing.

Though I don't know why anyone would be trying to catch flies, I'm told you catch more with honey instead of vinegar.

I am definitly not a huge RPer but foot prints are causing an issue?

The only real head turner I have is...
When I get told " I should kill you for all you have done" then when I open up chat that same npc says "hey how are you doing"

Walking in the snow produces absolutely no footprints. When walking in what supposed to be deep powder, not only are you right on top of the snow, like its solid ground, but you dont even leave footprints. While hiking with fellow imperials last night, It kept bringing me out of the game, especially when NPCs are on top of a snow mound and its coming off like its made of hard plastic.

For a game focused on mountains and snow, you think these things would have been done better. Hopefully we get a patch that improves overall detail in the game from beth.

I couldn't care less about this.

Have yet to see the thread about how your character would freeze to death depending on their armor while running around on top of a mountain in the snow or swimming through the ocean on the northern coast.

I'm not chastising people who enjoy different play styles. I'm chastising the ones who think that because of silly aesthetic "bugs" (some of which aren't actual bugs, just a lack of living up to unrealistic user-based standards) the game is worthless and Bethesda should be boiled in oil. There's a difference between being disappointed in some slight visual shortcomings and being angered to the point raising a stink on the software company's forums about it.
