Bighorner calf won't follow me

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:37 am

I fed it, but it does not follow me. I wait for a minute, but it still does not follow me :cryvaultboy:

I try to interact with it again, but no respond...

How can I get rid this bug?

How did you feed it? I even tried tossing the fruit in front of him but he didn't notice me.

"activate" it and 2 options will show up, one is leave it be and another is feed it. After I choose to feed it, it does not respond.

Were you in Sneak mode when you fed the calf? I've noticed a delay to it following me if I'm sneaking. Also it does stop several times on the way back to it's mother and you have to feed it another fruit each time.

You "feed" it by clicking on it when you're close up. You get the option to feed it and one of the banana yucca fruits is subtracted from your inventory.

When you feed it the banana yucca, you need to not be in sneak-mode and you'll need to back off some distance. It takes a few seconds before the follow script kicks in, but it should start following you at that point. After a minute or so it will stop following and begin grazing and you'll need to feed it again to get it to continue following you. If my memory isn't failing me, I believe I had to use 4 or 5 banana yuccas to get it all of the way back.

If you know where you are going you can do it in three feedings. if you get lost, maybe five.

Problems arise because you have to pass at least one hostile Bighorner. Your companion will kill him if he attacks you. this spoils a perfect record but does not fail the quest.

The dialog you get each time the food bait runs out is that the calf is petrified with fear and needs more encouragement.

This is why I have companions Wait when I think I have to navigate some weird terrain/side quest. ;) I must have gotten lucky w/the advlts because it wasn't too hard to thread the needle.

And yes, OP, like the other have said, it takes more than one piece of fruit to make it.
